Autocar test out today. They say its as fast across country as pretty much anything......big claim. If this holds out on UK roads then this is one hell of a car

Have to say I quite like it in white

looks awesome...... wish VW started making some proper stuff. When you look at the renualt megane, focus rs, astra vxr etc etc there is nothing from the german manufacturers as exciting or extreme.

Jason Potato seemed keen last night I can't belive they pulled it off. There's been pics of it and little bits of info going around or years mostly calling it a Cosworth, before the MK2 Focus came out and I thought that's gonna be a monster, then I heard 300bhp and I thought yep, that's going to be stunning. Then I heard FWD and well, I laughed. Never work I thought, the last one just about got away with 220, and that was meant to be a slut to drive, the VXR doesn't work properly and the Alfa 147 GTA is a shambles. God knows how, something to do with knuckles, but it works.

The Ford Fanatics being what they are, they'll sell and sell.

Like it in white - the green one at the Autosport Show was ~ 20k in the toilet.

Still hot and bothered by the Volvo engine inside it mind [:s]

That's the UK perception of Volvo, and a pretty 80's perception at that.
That engine is probably the strongest part of the new car, perfect for the WRC.

Swedish engineers & tuners have an almost pathological obsession with the qualities of metals, and plenty of room to hoon around - not uncommon to see Volvo engine parts being used in other cars. The engines are practically unburstable, big Turbo scene over there too, they know their huffers.

Volvo make extremely good engines, they build a bigger variety of sizes and power outputs with thier hight and low pressure turbos and are better suited to their cars, unlike VW who generally produce one engine and use it in just about every car they make. Like the 1.8t that got used in absolutely everything. They are also incredibly reliable as well.

looks ideal, and FWD so less likely to kill meself, although I couldn't afford one

can't see how people think220bhp and FWD is an issue, with a decent diff it's a breeze

    Ahem, 300bhp here.
I think they might have finally produced a worthy successor to the Escort Cossie, myself.

I can't afford one, but am excited about this new FRS, I even bought Autocar to read the test (not bought Autocar, for bloody years)

Sutcliffe could only fault the gearchange not being 'snickity' enough and the naff CF trim, other than that... spot on.

    Looks the business!

My Dad will probably be upgrading to one of these from his mk1 RS in a few years.

Will be interesting to see how quick it goes round the ring.

Sure I saw somewhere it was 30 secs faster than the mk1 FRS, so a similar time to the R26R.

In the Autocar test it states that it's faster than ANY Ford including the Ford GT around Ford's test track at Lommel (sp)
