What rubbers have you got on it? The standard ones? (don't say Durex)

Hey where did you get the uprated rubbers from? My exhaust is annoying
the crap out of me, if I turn a sharp corner or go over a bump I can hear it
knock and splutter. The guy at the garage said it fit without needing to be
cut. I looked under the car with him and it did seem to be ok. Did anyone
else cut that hanger off that isnt used with the 16v? Is it the 8v hanger?
Mines still on there. Also the exhaust sounds nice except about 2100rpm it
makes a real crap boomy sound [:s]

I dunno about uprated rubbers.. But on mine, the 16v hanger seems to sit very close to the pipe, and on a hard left it does knock. i might re-make the hanger from the chasis to give some more space..

I still have a rattle from the rear-end, seems to be the backbox or the heatshield. i think heatsheild..another thing for my "to do" list

Any tips on what can be done with the shield that runs the length of the exhaust? Jubilee clips sorted the cat and manifold but what about the under car length???

    Cheers

Aren't all the heat sheilds held into place with speed clips/spring washers. I had a couple which had rusted away so that the heat shield was able to move slightly, but enough to cause noise under vibration. They're only 29p each from VW.

As a bodge, could you jam/stuff some old bit of rubber between the box and chassis to stop knocking?

I'm guessing I need a few replacement clips then.

    Cheers

I'm taking some of my payment to the garage on wednesday, I'll tell him it's
knocking, see if he'll adjust it

Had to have a few clips put on my heatshield the other week, common rattling problem by the looks of it. Jetex on mine too, had it on for a few years, very happy :)

Do you mean the heatshield was rattling against the exhaust? Because when
I had the old VW exhaust I didn't hear any heat shield rattling? Now with the
Jetex it defs hits the underside of the car when I accelerate hard (mostly in
1st 2nd gear) or going over a bump
