i dunno...if you're driving properly on edge one minor error can lead to a big accident, dependent on the race track of course. (suspension failure at woodcote (silverstone) is the closest i've got so far) but yep, it is safer than road driving, you ain't gonna wipe out a bus queue! track days are probably more dangerous thatn actually racing mind...theres a lot of safety crititeria in a proper race.
I find the most dangerous element in track days are other people with unpredictable lines and no track etiquette! Sean
thats what worries me about track days...even the loonies in racing are quite easy to predict (though i did almost loose a nose cone once when someone turned in on me (whilst appearing to be letting me passed) in a practice session once - we had 'words' afterwards!).
last monday I got a nice demostration of exactly that at Brands, my mate had to take evasive action at Paddock. The result was we didt make contact but spun across the grass (headed towards the infield thank Cod), feels like being in a flymo in an open top car!
I've been stood on the bank down there and been showered with gravel many times in the same race, the amount of bent cars flying off down there sometimes is incredible!
