Don't get rid. Where are you gonna find anything totally original as good an example of that? Surely you're better keeping what you have knowing that it has only had one small incident.

Give it a few days, calm down and think about it when your not so gutted (you may have to wait a few years). It could have been much worse. It could have been front windscreen gone, 'A' pillar damaged and door.

I kinda know how you feel though. It's not so much how much damage but that it's been damaged at all. I had my Mk3 6 weeks before it got pranged. Haven't felt quite the same about it since.

    appreciate the advice guys...

whats gutting is seeing other minters at shows then talking to the owners, who then say theyve been restored over many years.
which is a great thing and a fantastic job most the time but,for this to happen to an untouched one is just gutting...

cheers for the offer rich, ive seen your work in the flesh and its top notch, your just too bloody far away
ive got a couple contacts for dent removal and paint now.
    cheers,neil.

i dunno about anyone else, but i could never keep a car that i'm not allowed to repair.

what would happened (god forbid) if this cabinet hadnt fallen off, but in a year or two a rust spot started to come through at the bottom of the drivers door.

so youd just leave it rusting because you dont want to own a car that is known repaired.

    true.

Anyway riley, how do you know for sure that it never had any paint before you bought it?

Unless you owned it from new.

People lie through their teeth when selling cars.

i useed to work at a bodyshop that repaired cars from the jaguar factory (birmingham/castlebrom) and gerrad mann (mercedes showroom) mainly due to them coming off the lorries dented and scratched etc, and by law they had to inform the customers that it had been repaired.

most people wanted brand new panel etc, but the place used to skim a load of filler on etc. they did an amazing job though, they used to mixed the paint from the actual colour of the car, not the paint code etc. so its not the end of the world.

and when you get it back on the road, get it along to shows and drive the bloody thing, thats what they are there for.

I'd take it to a classic car bodyshop, explain the situation, get them to use VAG panels and cellulose paint (as I presume was original)..... tell them you want the paint finish to match exactly and all that - at the end of the day, it'll be a minter again - you'll be the only one who knows it was ever damaged. Sell it and you can guarantee you'll regret it down the line. Even damaged it's still a "mint" condition car, just a dented one - you won't find another one as good anyway.....

    DON'T SELL IT MAN.

I know you must feel bad, but a true dubber wouldn't want to take a car like that off a true dub fan.

I'm sure there is some one out there who can do the very best job possible on the damage and have it almost 100%.

I know it ain't the same thing... but hey.

    Sorry.

Oh damn yeah - I didn't mean to give the impression otherwise before. You'll feel a lot better though when it's freshly repaired though.

It doesn't help to have some bloody eBay scammer after your MK3 at the same time does it! [:x]
