cheers oplaii/deako,do you know what the quality is like on the t/sport ones? obviously if i could find original then thats what id like but doubt ill find em...
very late update!! took it to a place through a friend of a friend, who used to work there, and he reccomended them highly. there was no need to remove the sticker on the wing, and they didnt even need to paint it as such. the friend of a friend took care of the dent removal with little weighted rods and the other guys mixed paint up and applied it with some sort of stick. then they polished it all up and i reckon its the first time ive ever been 100% impressed by body/paint repair. this is the only pic i have of just after the work, was a while ago! and a couple pics while minting it back up after driving in the rain to elsecar every bit of the engine bay needed washing/polishing,washed inside of bumpers, removed lights to clean/polish.
Mint - Looks superb Good to hear you got it sorted, after all the talk of flogging it because it was no longer original etc.. Sounds like one of the touch up methods they used at Aston Martin.. apply the paint using a "mouse" (cone of masking tape) let it dry, cut it back with a sandvik blade or similar, polish. Can't tell the difference when it's been done properly
yeah im happy with it,was just really gutting at the time. cant see it under diffarent lighting or anything neil.
Just read the whole thread. Awesome car! You don't see new cars that clean. Pictures of the damage aren't coming up. Would I be taking the p*ss asking you to post them again? Glad to see you got it fixed so well. Got to be worth more than 5K. Volksdragon was selling a 15000 miler a year or so ago for 10K. Keep up the polishing
cheers guys were a bit unsure of any other ways to improve it tbh. theres the odd bolt/nut etc,all the wiring loom and other bits are clean but its just the engine block/gearbox and stuff. its clean and original, but does the engine/box wanna come out to be painted? im all for leaving it and happy to just keep finding new places to polish and use yellow duster but my dads into the removal/repaint idea. neil.
nah - remove and repaint and it'll look like a restoration job. leave it original i'd say ps - fantastic car neil. i absolutely love it. if you ever contemplate selling it i'm first on the list, ok?
yeah thats what i think darryn, its as it should be aint it. its not dirty/crumbly type rusty, even to rub over with a rag. my dad is saying that paint will look better than original aged look on the block! i see where he's coming from, but i dont wanna disturb the engine mounts or anything, hope im not sounding like a nutter but i just like the fact that its never been out before. cheers m8,neil. ps:whats this list? Edited by: riley
the list that goes... "hmmm i'm thinkink of selling my car... who will i let know that it's for sale? i'll just check my list... 1) darryn 2) darryn 3) darryn 4) darryn 5) darryn 6) darryn 7) darryn 8) darryn 9) darryn 10)darryn"
