1.6...16v...4 throttles...NASP Ueo Katsuhiro uses his door windows as windscreens as he drives the nuts off his D1 AE86 4AGE Hachiroku. Excuse the poor sound quality. The camera goes ape ****e at very high rpm.
which believe it or not the 4AGE was almost a direct copy , to the mm , of a Ford BDA... so much so , that Ford went about taking Toyota to court over it! So says my old school engine tuner-in-the-shed.
Having built a few of these I am not sure about that as, the 4AGE is based on a A series 8v OHC engine, found in the AE80, AE70 and Daihatsu Charmant Picture of a 4A-E 8V for FWD applications Toyota heads on "G" engines around this era the 80s were made by Yamaha. Picture of a 4AGE 16v for RWD (AE86, AE70) the engine evolved just as the the VW/AUDI EA827 gained 8v extra valves.
only repeating what I was told Ad , maybe he meant more valve sizes , included angle of them , bore stroke sizes etc.
Maybe on whole twin cam philosophy on Toyota "G" heads from a certain era owes something to the BDA and other European engines. Bore/Stroke preceeds the 4A-GE and the combination was used in the 8V 4A-U/C and general export.
Finally watched this today. Before Andrew Burton even built this car, he wanted it to be a seriously exciting car, it really had to be extraordinary. 15 years later, many wins and various championships, safe to say 'mission accomplished'. The car's now banned from MSA rally competitions due to rule changes so only demo runs from now. Recommended No word on what he's doing next, but a couple of year's ago someone let slip he had a Fiesta in the workshop. Quite whether that's still true, I don't know, because there's not been a mention since. Whatever he chooses next, he can't turn his engineering hand to like he has with this Peugeot, and it must be so difficult knowing what to do after having a car like that. www.peugeot-cosworth.co.uk Edit - update: Fiesta project half built & scrapped, cue year out.
I know they have been added before but the Honda 6 cylinder racers can't fail to make you smile so here is another one Even remembered how to embed the link after danster sorted out my last one (ta danster )
It's ok Tony. I will let you off for that fine 6 cylinder bike clip. Pistons like thimbles. Oh, and we must have a little 2 stroke expansion chamber action to keep a balance. And how about these big guns? You can see the huge advantage that riding a moped in your pants has over a fully clothed adversary.
And finally back to where we belong, listening to the calming sounds of a 16v This apparently 290bhp version, and a sound so distinctive, I'd know it anywhere, courtesy of the staccato lower rev range pickup. Answers why on a postcard...
Carbon Intake, RBC Inlet Manifold, Piper Manifold & Sports Cat, currently a full DC Sports system but i think it was a Spoon system at the time and Hondata K100 ECU. ~200bhp at the wheels. Vtec at 4k rpm full throttle, 5500 part throttle
Good stuff, I find it supprises a lot of turbo cars once you get all the bolt-ons tuned. I've gone as far as I can before building the motor on mine now (intake, header, exhaust, Inlet manifold, cams etc) Puts out 270hp @ 9030RPM
Certainly does, it's the reason my friend put an uprated turbo on his Evo VI and wound the boost up I was considering cams but bought another Mk2 to play around with instead for a third of the amount, if i could put a K20 in that for a reasonable amount i'd be a very happy man! Also i hope this hasn't been posted:
