Just went to see the guy about the possible scirocco,

anyway went in his garage and it has a sheet over it and loads of boxes so only got to see the front end, engine bay and boot.

Lets just say it is mint, 16" alloys, DTM exhaust, this is the one. It has also been resprayed in a very nice black. This is mint!!!

However he is still undecided if he wants to sell and he's gonna get it out the garge tomorrow for me to have a proper look. I'm sure with my persuasive techniques a mk1 Scirocco storm will be gracing the roads near you!!

and I've decided that the mk1 is gonna get a restoration regardless whether the scirocco does indeed arrive or not :p

I have some money tied up in shares which to be honest would be better sorting stuff now before it gets beyond repair!!

remember not to look like your keen as mustard (what does that mean ?), ie try not to bight his arm off if it is a minter - you may change his mind about selling itor put the price out of your range..

    Today was the day!!

It's on an old S plate and even has the black/silver numberplates. That is a 1977 model!!

It has 73000 miles on the clock and has the 1.6 GTi engine. Sounds awesome with the twin tail Longlife exhaust going through the centre (wheel well removed)

Leather seats as standard, (rip on the drivers side)

I love the three spoke steering wheel, the dash has a few small cracks where the holes are in the top. (speaker holes??)

Paintwork is 90% mint, needs a few patches tidied up.

No rust whatsoever, bar the tailgate aperature (sp??) which needs a weld and some new struts sorted out.

it doesn't have a parcel shelf, can easily knock one up from MDF!!

needs a drivers wing mirror (just the glass)

needs a tyre for the 16" Antera 5 spokes

    and needs new rear shoes.

    Looks the dogs bollox!!

The guy is gonna have a think about it tonight, I've offered him 800 would be willing to pay a fair bit more too.

It's been resprayed in black and has all the chrome window seals intact. This is awesome.

The only drawback is lack of room for rear passengers, I think the mk1 Golf will have to be sold if I get this. Should I use such a mint car as a daily driver though??

    Will keep you updated

yes you should use it everyday, thats what cars are for!
As long as you keep it washed once a week and give it a regular service it'll be fine!
You putting the valver into it?

I think that'll be the plan! As the valver engine has been totally rebuilt and the value of the scirocco wont be affected by an engine change anyway.

I think the 256mm brakes maybe donated too

I'm 80% certain he's gonna let this car go!!

What year is an S?? we guessed it was a 77 plate, according to my book the first storms came out in 1979.

So if an S is a 79 then its all good.

I think the wheels may be worth a few quid too.

    16" Antera 5 spokes??

It'll be either keep these or put my Mim 1900s on.

    Hmmmmmmmm [8-}]
