it could be crack in the dizzy cap, this will allow the car to run fine from warm but as the cap warms up the crack will open up and cause the car to cut out, when it cools down the car will start fine.

sounds like teh car could do with a good service.

yeah i'll go have a check once im freshened up from last night[xx(]

ive replaced the plugs only yesterday as this is what i thought
too....although they were only a couple of months old they were in a
    bit of a state.

within the couple of months ive had the car ive replaced the dizzy cap,
rotor arm and leads which makes me think its not them....but have any
of you experienced faulty new parts?

the car had a good service just after i bought it, i changed everything pretty much

is there any oil leaking into the distributor? the seals go between the head and this causing the whole thing to get gunked up.

if the car warms up, oil gets thinner so can get into dizzy until it
builds up enough to make it cut out.you leave it for a while, it dries
up then it'll run again. my brothers car had a leakey dizzy on his old
    block.

How is accelleration. Any flat spots. Does pushing the accellerator really quickly cause a jerk problem.

Also with your CO meter let us know the readings at 3000 rpm, 2000rpm as well as your mixture may be leaning out too much from the idle mix.

Main jets may be incorrect.. for your car.

Also retard your timing, does this help?

jets wont be a problem as it was doing it on both carburretors, also the carb i sold him has correct jets for that engine.

i'll try retarding the timing and let you know

i havent noticed any flat spots, seems to run fine until it plays up.

ive checked for oil in the dizzy, when i took it off there was very
slight traces, but nothing making it gunk up or anything.
everything in there seemed to be in working order....only when i sucked
on the vac pipe on the dizzy, it moved the points, but i could only
suck a certain amount, it wouldnt let me anymore.

what do the advance weights look like

well the vacuum advance is working then, the weights are behind
everything else in the dizzy and theyre connected to two springs.

if you have to take this apart, do it v carfully and do not stretch the
springs because theyre quite finely balanced to let the weights open at
    certain rpm

Check all your fuel hoses for cracks and replace them if need be.

My old car had cracks in the fuel hose which must have expanded in the heat of the engine and caused the car to stutter and stall due to excess leaning of the mixture. Never found out for weeks.

Another time a similar thing happened I had a bad NEW HT lead to the coil. A crude way I found out was running my fingers up and down each lead to see if I got the shock of my life.

If your car runs fine when it is cold, but only bad when it is warm, then I cannot imagine it be your dizzy.

It might be better to check for air release just after it stutters and dies, it will sound like opening a bottle of coke I imagine :)
