had a busy christmas and Jan, so far.

Lowered 35mm on Jamex springs and shocks plus all new top mounts etc (although the back dropped more so I had to put adjusters in there and the fronts still settling a little but its now sat level)

super pro dog bone mount, cured all engine and drive train knocks and made the car far nicer to drive!

touran rear wiper, nice and big and wipes right to the top of the rear screen, so max rear vis now, and the new wiper cleans all the high level brake light too so nice and safe. the rear wiper isnt a striaght fit, you need a small washer to place part way down the spindle for the arm to tighten up on to other wise it sits too close to the scree and the rear washer needs to be pulled out a smidge otherwise it cant be aimed properly onto the screen.. but it worth it for the smooth look)

I have still got to fit my LCR splitter like on my last one, thats at home waiting, and when the weather gets better fit the 18s on that are waiting, but over all its geting there and Im very happy with how its turning out.

(it was washed the night before... thats after 1 trip to work!)

The mk2 has been dusted off from its winter sleep and been back out on the road.. I had forgoten just how damn fast it was! I spent most of last week grinning from ear to ear! but the down sides are it appears that the bedford trackday just before the car was put away has killed the top mounts along with a winter of sitting and only moving a little in and out of the garage, so they need to be changed this weekend if I get time.

also oddly the radio has stopped working, so again I am suspecting that bedford was a bit too much and it has just losened a wire,

other than that it appears to be going well and will be give it major service again next week at work.

The mk4 is also being treated to a front mount cooler, as a mate had one going for very little money, so that means I can sock off the side mount and its annoying coupling that keeps coming out!

not updated this for a while, so here goes:

MK2: the engine mount issue was tracked down the solid front mount un doing the bolt it in, did it back up and put some thread lock on it, all appears to be well now ..... at the mo.

not done too much as its not been out other than for our wedding where it was the car me and my best man turned up it, and then Mel wanted a couple of picks with him in her dress, so a very good day with him looking smart!

Curby back in May, went well... track tyres wouldn't work, as I could not get the heat in them so swaped to road yokos and went over a second quicker!! ended up 4th quickest and was 2nd by mid morning.... I got the award for maximum attack which is now sat on the book case with pride of place.

Got a safety devices roll cage a month ago, rear cage but with full X in the back and harness bars, for a billy bargin price! only got round to fitting it last night with my mate whos a crack welder... got the cage sat in fine and all lines up etc, only for a bit of under seal to catch fire which then melted a fuel line... bad times! only damage it appears was the charing of the under seal, and the fuel filter holder and fuel lines melting, so these will need replacing along with the flexy brake hoses (which were on the list to do).. the only other damage is the door was open when dragged it out of the work shop off the burning fuel, and the door hit the workshop bending the hinges a little so now the doors sat slighty too far forward, so he will be off to my friends body shop for some fetting and to finish having the cage welded in before the fuel lines etc are replaced and he's back on the road (hopefully in time for curby in sept..)

Mk4: proving a brillant work horse going to work and back every day, im seeing 55+mpg all day long which is brill, hes now sat on the new 18" TT 3.2 rims, which arent mint but will be refurbed next year to hopefully make him look a bit more presentable up close. other than that he hasn't had much extra done... he was used at the wedding and was decked up with bows and ribbons etc looking very smart.

The new car: Mel the wife sold her Arosa Rosie to my little bro as he needed a new car after his crash back in feb, (not his fault... a old boy just drove head on in to him!!) so she now has a very smart 2006 9n3 polo 1.9 tdi sport 3 door with a few special toys... full climate, winter pack (hhmmm heated seats!) and cruse control!! we have had Betsy (yep shes named her already) just 2 weeks and already Mel is planning how low she can go and as of today she is sat on some nice 17" rims for a better look than the skinny 15" rims.

Ill get the pics up soon as they are all on works lap top, but thats pretty much everything up to date.

Progress has been slow... but progress has been made non the less!

The mk2 is now back from my folks and in my new garage, cage and harnesses fully installed.. pics will be coming over christmas as its a bloomin neat install!

MK4 - got a new inter cooler waiting, but in 2 minds if it will go on or not as its going to be a bit of a mission and not as cheap as was planned! but should help in the summer if it goes on.. also got a anni front valance waiting in the dining room, once the winters over it will be sprayed and on asap! There are also FK coil overs waiting to be fitted, as I have got annoyed with the softer ride and want it sat a smidge lower at the front too. other than that and the new no silencer exhaust (again not sure if staying as when pressing on it a bit loud lol!)

the wifes polo is coming on too! coil overs waiting for that (will be done over xmas as I have been promising to fit them for the last 3 months! lol) also got a polo GTI grill on it now, along with honey comb bottom grills (the inetrcooler one I had to cut out by hand!) it has also had a new set of rims, and some summer ones awaiting a polish / refurb. (its also a bit noiser now due to no silencers... but it sounds better than mine due to smaller pipe bore)

so expect a few big posts over xams, and I cant wait to get back out in the mk2!!! its been off the road since June!

photos will be up tomorrow once the polooooows finished.

Not sure how i have managed to over look your 1.8T Mk2 M7R, its looks great

Love the detail in the engine bay!!

Been thinking about where to mount my fmic, and have noticed that yours is mounted in the bottom part of the bumper. Looks very neat and possibly the route i'd consider taking.

Any close up pictures of how its mounted in ?

cheers, I can't take full credit for the install if I am honest, the last owner did most of the work I have just tweaked it a bit and tidyed up a few bits, like all the silicone now being black and the cooler is sprayed black too, 1) for better heat transfer via radiation, and 2) so it doesn't stand out for the stealth look

There are pics on here somewhere of the install, poss in the 1.8T forum and I think on the build thread, but I will try and find that for you, as its a pretty neat install which is very very efficient with little heat soak - 30+ amb temp on a full throttle run up hill in 4th and the max intake temp reached was 50deg! all because the cooler has a sealed air flow, so the air HAS to flow through it, there is no route around the sides of it

Slow progress... but the mk2 is now empty(ish) and the engines been running! still needs full service but all the bits are in the garage waiting to be done. I still need to get the front door cards on, and the wiring for the electric windows could done with be re done. only other job before it goes back on the road is the 2 flexs on the rear beam, and then its good to go for its MOT, Tax and then back on the road!

The mk4 is now sporting a Miltelk system from a bora, which was fun and games to fit!!! the back panel of a non 4mo is not the same as the 4mo versions with tail pipes showing! so my back panel had to be cut and painted etc to alow the pipes to fit.. but its now all on, and just nees the tail pipes extending a smidge as the back of an estate is about 20mm longer than the back of a bora by the looks of things!

And the wifes is now slammed and the height set (it scrubs a little on the front on the inner arch liner.. so this will be sorted in the summer, but its ok for now and not causing any damage to the tyre or wheel)

The wifes is sporting a pair of Ford Escort drop links as now its lowered the stock ones were too long, and the "special shortened ones" off ebay are over 60!! yet the ford ones are the right length, and 7 each from euro car parts lol.

Mk2 has been done and on the road for the last month, and it's going ok. Good enough for a 3rd place at curby! Still a few more niggles to sort out like a coolant weep and brake bias, but it's not bad at all.

On the mk4 new rims polished and on, very pleased with the look of them![IMG]

Excuse the state of the car, didn't get chance to wash it last week, and it done nearly 1k in 2weeks too lol, miltek was a sod to get right, boras ment to be the same as an estate but middle hanger on back box was all wrong, new hanger, middle box deleted and all is cool now, only estate with this mod I believe due to the pita it is to fit, but well worth it.

And yes the wife and I have matching rims now, hers are oe dune bbs wheels, mine are the split rim versions in 18s

The mk2 has been ticking along nicely, not done too much due to the usual poo weather, but it did go Curby back in May and came out with a very respectiable 3rd place!

I have got a few little niggles to sort on the mk2, like the rears locking due to the fronts being a bit over active, but it is sort able so not too bad.

I thought about doing a Bolf, but getting hold of a gli front like the anni one is a bit more expensive... but I may still go down that route if I find a front in the right colour for the right price... or I am tempted to sell it and get another A4 or a A3

    ALL CHANGE PLEASE ALL CHANGE!!!

Due to there being a baby dubber due in Feb I thought now would be a good time to be grown up (ish)... so Vince the monster mk2 was sold to my little bro to enjoy and look after for untill he gets bored and then sells it back to me (hes had im about 3 weeks now and drives him EVERYWHERE!!! it looks like it will be a fair while untill he is bored! lol

I then agreed with the wife that we should sell her 9n3 sport (my bro had that too as his daily) and use the funds from that and Vince to get another estate, that way it didnt matter which car I took for work, she would always have a nice reliable big car to cart sproglet and associated junk around in... we started off looking at B7 A4s again... then I upped the budget a bit and was looking at early B8 A4s... buut you cant tow with them unless you spend 2k on new fans and other upgrades! well done Audi!.... then we looked at Seat Exeos as its my old B7 with better engines, and we could have a newer version with more toys and less miles..... then I got a bit carried away and got her a 3 month old 170 TDi Sport Tech estate..all the bells and whistles, sat nav, cruise, HIDs auto everything, leather... etc etc.. and its metalic white with ganster blacked out back windows from the factory.

I have already started playing with a bentley 12V socket plug, german number plates, de badged, and a seat roof spoiler on order (A4 S line spoiler basically), and I have fitted a boot liner too.

For now here's a couple of pics from when we went to see it the other night after it had been delivered.

The 2 car family lasted all of 3 weeks.... And today I went to London and picked up a mint 89 valver in Helios blue, 110k from new, full mint leather, leccy windows, leccy mirrors, power steering, and a massive wedge of history!

He has already been named James by the wife!

He needs a bit of love, the gearbox linkage needs looking at as it won't go in first properly... The linkage broke and the garage fitted a unit from a scrappy...so I think it just needs setting up, but worryingly a bit it clicks in reverse... So it maybe easier to drop on a new box and linkage.

The engine needs setting up as it was running rich for the last mot and failed, so the garage leaned it right off! It's now running a little warm, but a blast on he exhaust tester should sort him.

Also need to find out why the leccy mirrors aren't working, and replace a few warn suspension bushes.

The plan is nice set of rims, nice exhaust system for a bit more of a bark, lowered, fully poly bush and then just run him as a nice toy that me and the wife can both drive and enjoy, plus I'm only allowed to keep him is I can fit a car seat in the back...

I Ordered all the bits to do the gear stick and bushes, but they haven't arrived yet, however the gear linkage set up tool did, so I went and had a play, the linkage was a MILE out! Now it's reset it feels ok and I can get first ok now! So I think I'll leave doing all the bushes untill the winter when the cars off the road.

The engine seems a bit lumpy at idle, I did try and set the emissions but it still seems a bit off and hesitant, however I have found another guide to setting up the kjet and this one says to remove a red wire from the coil to deactivate the Ivs so this maybe why I could wind the idle valve all the way in and still have the car idle ok! I will reset it again tomorrow eve properly and see what happens.

New mirrors going on soon to hopefully get the leccy mirrors running ok again, and a set of g60 wheels on too for the oe look.

Looking good Karl, your new valver with all that OE spec is crying out for a mint set of 6.5 x 15 BBS RMs... Maybe with A brand new set of Toyo T1Rs... Now only if I new someone who had such a set??? ;)

Hhmmm I could be tempted to the dark side.... Not a big fan of the multi spoke, but it would be in keeping with the car.... Drop me a txt and I'll see if it's within budget so to speak
