if you want a decent run around, get a mk6. The GT retains it value well enough and has a nice interior with the alcantara trim. then once you've sorted the mk2 you can sell the run around. But seriously, any more Ford talk and I'll have to call my mate richard mk2 to get you banned from here.
It was my mate mitxh on the way home... I was in a state of weakness after seeing such nice motors.. I have corrected my errors with 50 lashes
Today was the day of the test drives. went to VW to see a Mk7 Gti (even thou ive seen Richards mint example) and i was told the mk7 Gti are like rocking horse poo and even if i ordered one it would be 4 months. (not a good start) went to Audi (again) but this time test drove a 63 plate S3 (when i say test drove i mean did some dad sensible diving) but even with the sensible driving i had loads of fun and just loved the fact when i touched the sensitive throttle it just wanted to throw me into the seats... made me have a massive smile when i came away.. Then went to bmw and the guy gave us no time at all.... he was the biggest womb broom so we left very unsatisfied. we finished the day with a test drive in the very nice and smooth Mercedes A250 this was no way as fun as the s3 and the triptronic was rubbish (i thought) but the car was beautiful inside with a real high finish, this car would be best as an everyday car.. the only real smile i got was with the automatic parking.. (so cool) but could i just settle with a A250.. im just not too sure! both A250 and the S3 where 29k one was more fun the other more sensible!! I never thought buying a car would be so much hard work
You should have a look around some of the dealers and see if they have any MK7 GTi's in stock over here. Probably a long shot, and the one you'll want probably wont have the extras you'd like. Also, if I was choosing between the S3, Merc or BM, it would be the S3 all day long
Ah, was going to suggest Cayman R too, but they are 40k for a decent one. (Forgot you mentioned the 3 kids) In your shoes I'd be getting a C63 AMG Saloon then. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261473131439
I definitely in love with the c63 amg everthing that is but the parts cost.. disks alone each are approximately 3/400. And if your having to think about service/parts im just too poor.. My mrs thinks im a nut job spending that kind of money on a car.. but after home improvements and a holiday what else do you do? I cant sit on money (its boring) and the interest is pants.. And well I may end up having a heart attack or something in a few months and well whats the point being the richest in the grave yard. Anyway so far im affraid to say the S3 is my favourite its fast (for me) and service etc are just like most cars. Parts seem reasonable so makes everyday use practical. But still feel if im spending that money I should look at others and not fall for the first thing I drive
Interesting read about the S3, considering Audi doesn't usually fare well on PH: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=29784 Probably doesn't help your "not fall for the first thing I drive" argument though!
A C63 driven conservatively will munch a pair of 350 rear tyres in 9000 miles!! Yikes! And we all know you can't drive that car sensibly for long :-) Sent from my Z1 Sony using sausage fingers and tapatalk
After reading the article from catnipboy I think im going to go with the s3. Not going to jump straight in got the next 8 days at work then I shall enquire about a deal
In that case, there are some great personal lease deals for the C63 AMG for about 600 p/m. Id be doing that. http://www.appliedleasing.co.uk/per...aloon/c-class-amg-saloon-c63-4dr-auto-3772517 Get it with a service package. Or even just lease a Golf R. Far cheaper all round. http://www.appliedleasing.co.uk/per...hatchback/golf-hatchback-20-tsi-r-3dr-7647816 Buying an expensive new car outright is foolish. Far worse than sitting on a low interest rate.
