the fact that after being off the road since january, and me encountering every problem possible while trying to get the new engine running and MOT sorted, i still love it and cannot wait to drive it again!

The fact that mine is coming off SORN in the next couple of weeks and I'm already imagining turning the key for the first time, confident it will start, hearing that burble that you don't get in modern metal and feeling the feedback through the steering of those first few miles. Taking it easy until the oil is properly up to temprature, taking care with the gear changes, blipping on the downshift, then get it onto my favourite straight and see the needle hone in on the red. The feeling of being more connected with this machine in those few miles than the 100k miles I've done in my diesel auto Passat....

If I could work out how to paste a picture in here, I'd post an image of a J reg Oak Green 8v........

The retro styling. Solid, simple and still to be appreciated.

I think the early kitted GTI's and the VW Transporter of the same age are wonderfully styled.

I still love the little buzz I get as I walk up to it in a car park or out on the street, sat there in all it's boxy glory:thumbup:

mines got to be, when your driving in the dark and there is another golf with the round head lights on behind you, because you can distinctively recognise the car and both know your both driving with the same feeling in the pit of your stomach!!
