what fast car for 2.5grand?

ok folks after the calibra g60 thread, i was thinking if i gave you 2.5grand to spend on a car what would you buy? only rules are no VW's and has to be fast

 

why not VWs?

only thing I can think of is a VR6 around that money.

vw's are too obvious on this forum, think outside the box! just want to see how open minded folk are about cars here

 

im not open minded about cars in that price bracket, because like Darren says, there are other cars, but none are realistic choices - RS2000 too old, the rest too expensive to run!

mutliply that figure by 10 and I'd find you some non VWs though, because I know that VWs arent the best cars in the world in all circumstances

Yep I love pretty much anything on four wheels really. More randomness:

* A quick Beetle
* Decent Mk2 Astra GTE
* An old Celica turbo
* MAYBE an AE86 Corolla, although they are over-inflated these days
* 325i BMW
* XR4x4, Capri 2.8 or something

But yeah, most are probably too old for most people I suppose!

the quickest ud probably get for that money is older rover 220 turbos and calibra turbos.
exact same specs, dont think ud find anything quicker!
