Everybody`s got to start somewhere, he could have bought a Nova . Only real gain would be from nitrous, and the cost of filling it up and the insurance would be a killer! Andy947 you had a Driver didn`t you?
i started with a 1.8 driver (about 2 months ago ) i have a weber carb on it, and thats all at the mo, apart from the ususal filters and exhaust, i havent done any thing to the internal of the engine yet, i hope to get a cam for it, soon, at the mo its 101bhp and 102 lb, which isnt bad for a 1,8 driver, i have been told im quite happy with it as it is, im not after a crazy qucik car at the mo, that will come later tim
Yup i did, infact i had 2, and still have one Serioulsy dont spend much on the driver engine, all i ever did was fit the GTI cam, didnt even fit a weber - too much expense for little gain. Jus be happy with the engine until you can afford a conversion, or to upgrade to a GTI
this is true but..... not half as dumb as some of the ones you come out with! J-man has asked a question - most of you have replied with negative commemts about his 1.6, like KeithMac said everybody has to start somewhere! i've only said what i know from personal experience,
well to give a fair comparison at inters someone should bring their 1.6 driver to the strip - with weber carb, gti exhaust, Wiv a cam etc. and race me in my nearly std old GTI how's that sound?
i fastest driver is fthiamikes...his was a driver but now a 2.1 8v monster and hit 140 @ wheels last week @ TSR (and we all now agree that there rollers are right )
nope, if we're talking about modified drivers then Dark1's (can't remember current forum name) 1.8T (225bhp?)driver will be fastest
