Even though i have an engine installed in the loops to get me up and running i thought it would be wise to build me a bullet proof short block for some more crazy plans that i have. So the ALT block is of to be bored and honed. While that is getting done here are the goodies waiting to be installed.[IMG].[IMG].[IMG].[IMG].

While block is away getting played with and this weather cant make up it's mind to freeze my ass of i thought i would pay some attention to the cooling system. Started of with a new front panel as the previous one was butchered to death.[IMG].Made up a picture frame for everything to sit in.[IMG].[IMG].
Spent most of the week running from home to garage to welders and back. Finally it's coming together.[IMG].[IMG].
After some more cutting, tucking and filing got the water radiator and engine oil cooler to share space.[IMG].[IMG].[IMG].
Now i need to find some more space to fit another oil radiator and charge cooler radiator. This week will entail alot of head scratching effing and blinding. All part of a build[:x]

Well the head scratching and the effing and blinding turned out to be a good mild day for me and the charge cooler radiator has a new home.[IMG].
This radiator has to plug in type fittings which are of no use to me so i will get 2 AN fittings tagged to each hole to plumb the rest of the charge cooling kit.[IMG].[IMG].Black radiator has been screwed to the water radiator.[IMG].The other end will be tagged with two L shaped brackets.[IMG].3 down 1 to go:thumbup:

Wow has it really been that long since i last updated? Ok what with the **** weather we had lack of funds and everytime i think i'm getting some where it's a knock back. Well the weather has now got it's act together so i'm trying to do the same. My engine build has been a right pain in the backside. ALT block 20.8kg in weight had me a 95.5mm crank 16.5kg weight, ******* wouldn't fit so this is what i did to get it to fit.[IMG].[IMG].[IMG].[IMG].[IMG].Was getting crank ready to be fully machined knife edged and balanced then i came across this.[IMG]. Which fits nicely in this.[IMG]. So at the moment i'm waiting for some supertech pistons to arrive from the states and this block can be built.

So come on then... How much weight did you manage to chop off the crank that you did not use?

But glad to see this project is still on :)

After all the cutting only managed to loose 1kg. Finding the other Tdi crank was a blessing (good ole ebay) immediate weight reduction Forged and lighter than a 1.8t/Tfsi Crankshaft and OEM:thumbup:

Just a little update got my crank back from the machining shop and it looks like brand new so it will be staying wrapped up until i'm ready to install into block. Also got the block back all honed and alot cleaner in appearance and Conrods have been separated awaiting arrival of pistons.[IMG].[IMG].[IMG].Awaiting Pistons, Big end and Main Bearings, Rear crank seal and the ALT block build can commence.
