He's listening to logic Dave, as an intelligent man you must realise that he'll have more power and more torque through more valves and cams. Eddie proved that 16v is better on the rollers! No point in ever putting the EV back, once you go ABF you won't want to.
Just a small change, still need to paint the lower metal part and need to find some connectors for the inner lights. Also need the correct GTI badge
If you mean the connectors for the spots I should have them as I've just stripped back my track car loom.
Great read & love the mk1 Steering wheel. I fitted one to my sisters early mk2 & she kept the orginal one but then sold the car with the one i fitted on for her!!!!!!!!!!. I bet they fetch good money these days?[:^(]
Well another victory for the mk2 I finally got around to changing the ingition barrel to get one key for the whole car, swapped the barrel and reinstalled. Turned the key all the dash lights came one but now fuel pump noise[:^(]. Started looking for issues with fuses and wires, nothing. So I put the old barrel back in, turned the key and VROOMMM yay I can get home from work. I just need to re-key the boot lock and I'll be somewhat happy with 2 keys instead of 3.
Did you fit an early 7 slat grille or the later 5-slat? Both types of badges are on ebay at the mo if you need one. Matt.
I've had a 7 slat grill in the garage for almost a year now, so I thought I would put it on. I found an early style GTI badge but it wouldn't clip to the grill. Are the sauare GTI badges different between the mk1 and mk2?
Yes the clips are different, there's one here on ebay but expensive for a worn badge though! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-MK2-Golf-Jetta-87-Original-grill-GTI-badge-191-853-679-/270917537227 When I tried to get one they weren't available new yet, only the Mk1 ones were being re-produced, hopefully this has changed.
