This modification was done locally, here in London as it was more convenient to sending far. The weight was 5.8kgs when finished. Plus some of the older heads on this side are fairly competent at what they do so there was no need to bother the specialist aka "Hotgolf".

I was pretty impressed with the way it grips, but you can still feel the outside front corner pitching in hard cornering - and he cunningly had his kids in the back to try and balance it (and two wheels and tyres in the boot)

The roll towards the outside circle would have improved significantly if we moved the damper settings from 'soft' to 'firm'.
To keep the car flatter during hard corning, would mean at least an uprated front ARB or remove the "anchor" and fit a powertrain with less grams. These considerations were not justified based on the vehicle's main purpose.
Pretty happy with how it copes as a road car when driven slow or, spirited on A, B roads and motorways, be it speed bump riddled, patchy, smooth or otherwise, with the family or by myself.

Managed to remap the std Bosch M3.8.x ECU and have been validating performance on road and on dyno. It is a long old process remapping these. Well worth the time though as the response is much more aggressive even on the original gearbox FD of 3.39:1.

Soon when I have some time I will update this thread on the suspension and on the ECU calibration tweaks that have been done.

Duh know. Took it to the valeting people for a inside/outside clean and a new air freshner.

Reduced rev limit to 6800rpm for now. Makes the same torque there as it did at 6500 on stock vw cal.
Pictures of the updates should be on here soon.

Do you think bellmouthing this is better than cutting it flush with the airbox wall or removing it altogether?

Cannot answer that scientifically except to say the tapered part has been deleted and I have breached the diagnostic airflow clip as seen in ECU calibratables during testing.
Although from the 16v airbox study, done much later that year, removing the modified eatonmk2 one had no effect on torque over totally removed velstack. Do not know what will happen on a larger flowing engine/airbox. It will be an area that will be revisited to get every extra kg of air extra to flow through that type of engine as it is currently. For now cal revisions have been focused on fast response and high speed/load overfuelling.

It does seem odd thats its designed tapered. What do you mean by the diagnostic airflow clip?

I might chuck my drain camera up from my airbox and see if theres a big lip up there with mine totally removed (from a corrado vr6 air box), the tube I removed was also tapered quite a lot on the last 10mm of it at the top end.

Yours does have a very sharp lip at the end of the funnel. Usually cured with a bit of stanley knife love and a small amount of filing. This is the same unit I have been using in the WOLF R w/o the funnel and the MAF connection removed. The base is the same as a digi2.
