InOak - there are those worth debating things with and those who are just total muppets not worth wasting a single keystroke on.

You can probably guess which category you fall into.

    Very suprised Seraph even bothered.

nothing wrong with the valver, you just can't beat all the torque if the PD driver can keep it near max boost

off the mark, his pd really does fly, and it stays like that throughout its rev-range. but once it reaches it limit and has to change (approx. 4Krpm), the 16v just carries on, and he doesn't recover after that. they're quick being as they're diesels, but they're quoted around the 9s 0-60 times. even an aged uncared for mk2 16v can match that - if looked after better that.

Oh yes, real world driving is ALL about the 0-60 time isn't it?

A turbo diesel won't "fly" until the turbo kicks in (about 2-2.5k rpm) then runs out at 4-4.5k rpm. They are very quick in that narrow rpm band.

D*CK?? now come on dont disappoint us NOW!!

READ THE ORIGINAL THREAD TITLE!! it's kinda started as mk4 (115 tdi)v's mk2 (8v). 16vs & 130bhp's are now being queried, ON THE ORIGINAL QUESTION - mk4 v's mk2. so based on that, the 0-60 time gives a good reference, and a valid point - WAKE UP!!

    Waste of time.
I only debate with people who know SOMETHING about what they are talking about.

You have less idea than my pet labrador.

Well this thread took an interesting turn....

Even if PD's can't beat a Mk2 atleast it will cost us PD's a 1/4 of the price to loose.

this could be settled if anyone had put a pd130 on the strip at pod... and someone else put a standard mk2 16v (such a thing?) on the strip at pod

failing that, you plums are invited to the ring of death to battle it out with the rest of the keyboard warriors!

Right on the way home i got to my final opinion:

a mk2 came up behind me, booted it but the poor young lad looked confused why my lil Arosa was still keeping ahead

I can keep up with a mk2 gti 8v if I try hard, but a 115pd TDI i can have easily.

I mean my car after all is nearing around 110hp but has a lot less weight.

To be honest I think a Citreon AX GT could have a mk4 115pd tdi [:$]
