Big, fat, stinking Mk3 Golfs

Did you know that my old derv weighs only 60kg less than a B5 Passat 1.8T?

Fat cars. Not phat, but fat.

 

Is there any site which gives weight for cars?

I'm just interested in the difference for certain models.

Reminds me, i must weigh the mr2 down local weighbridge.....i reckon its heavier than a mk2, its certainly longer!

Must be stripped to the max then, as they are normally a lot closer to 1350kg.

 

Basically.

 

Mk3's suck (IMO), my mate is looking to buy a VR6 at the moment and iv driven a few now with him and all of them seem painfully slow for a powerful car, I then realised it actually weighs nearly half a tonne more than my stripped out valver and has about 5bhp more

 

The source I used (http://www.parkers.co.uk/) has no weights for the Mk2.

Absolutely that Mk4 Golf 1.8T weight is wrong.

Well, with leathers and options they are closer to 1400kg. (1380)

Parkers says 1203-1289kg. Did you remember to remove yourself and passengers when you weighed it?

 

How the hell can an 8v GTi mk3 weigh more than a 16v.

Defo not right.

My other halfs GT TDi mk4 weighs 1380.

My kerbweight for my mk3 GTi is 1100 - not mega heavy considering how well built it is, and to take a car at random a Corsa GSi weighs 960kg.

 

I think that's right them chunky 8 valves must be the answer .

That website also says the mk2 16v only has 127bhp. Wrong!
