I've not looked it up but the 16v did make something like that power in the states and possibly the late German cars also due to emission regs / cats

shhhh. mk3s are cool. they sit right in between the mk1 mk2 vs mk4 mk5 debate thus mixing retro and modern. i owned one anyway and liked it.

in my opinion the ugliest golf to date is the mk5 r32. chrome grills are nasty evil things.

5dr Mk3's look great!! They are a bit on the heavy side but at least they are still the right size for a hot hatch, MK4's look to wide and overweight and Mk'5s do look alot like mini MPV's.

I do find a bit of a drag in the rear. My fron tires are always chirping by accident. If I'm not thinking and let of the clutch jus a bit faster than usual, she embarreses me. I look like some stupid kid trying to show off. I won't bring myself to strip it. I like my leather too much.

Mk3 will be still be going strong when mk1/mk2 is falling apart and loosing parts of it's self as it drives down the road due to rust:lol:
Mk3 Golfs rule! I love mine and would NEVER replace it with a mk1, mk2 or mk4. Might consider a mk5 GTI though.

I really do think that the Mk3 body style is the most awesomist, and I'm not going to limit that to my own opinion. As far as reliability and longevity on the road.... Mk1 & Mk2s will take the cake. They are better cars all around, I still wouldn't trade mine though for any of them. Well... Except for an R32. Oh F**k yeah...

the only VW engine that is better than an ABF is the 2.0 TFSI imo ,

People go on about the weight of a mk3 so much it makes me laugh!!! Ever tried turning a corner in a mk4?? like steering a boat imo
