13x5s with say 165/65-13s on them, but a good make.

    Or 15x7s with ****e 195/50s?

Gonna be the 13s every time - I don't know if it's just because I had the pressures wrong, but I had a **** load more straight line grip in my Polo when I had branded 165s than the cheap crap 185s I ran. Once the 185s lit up, they'd carry on through the gears, and I only had ~65 bhp!

I'd put my money on option 1....the tyres will still perform to a good standard in all conditions, the cheapo wider ones will not i suspect (may be fine in dry, but once it gets damp you'd be looking at every ditch expecting to end up in it!)

OK now I understand, the more something costs & the more desireable the brand image is the better the product.

Therefore a Ford Mondeo is a far better car than a Skoda Superb.

By the way I'd happily run some of the newer Kumhos...

But they are starting to cost as much as bigger brands!

I put my 13"'s on my old Polo while I got some new tyres fitted on the G60 alloys - nearly ran straight over a roundabout when I forgot I'd lost some tread width/grip. [:$]

money talks, sell sell sell, bussiness must go on. This is the problem we have in this country everything is too darn expensive and a small bugets in modifying does not go together and only brews up all the wrong sollutions an creates poor advice from sales to get things of the shelf and out the door , once this happens they just roll up the sleeves and wash their hands ready for the next innocent victim with that tight budget.
LOOKOUT FWD OWNERS , IF YOU UPGRADE POWER THEN UPGRADE QUALITY.

I really like F1s but my Ashtray came with Conti Sport Contact 2s and I've stuck to them.
Last ages, grip well, hard to beat when it's really wet (in fact they pretty much saved our lives a while back).
Pricey (130 each for 225/45 17") but they last long enough to make it worthwhile.
FWD powerful diesels EAT front tyres for breakfast - I got 19k out of my last set.

I nearly caused a huge pileup a couple of months ago cause some tw*t at my local garage had fitted shiiiter tyres on my Tipo... going round a roundabout as normal, **** kicked out without warning, I ended up facing the oncoming traffic and a huge lorry burning towards me. He luckily stopped and held up the traffic whilst I rectified the car... only to kiss the armco barrier the next day 'cause I went to cross lanes and didn't see car next to me (blind spot), saw him last minute, jumped back in, spun again, and ended up in the barriers.

If they'd been decent tyres, i'd have been fine both times. So I agree, ban them. Think they should all be sent to a place like the quarry my dad manages (http://www.lafargecement.co.uk), where they use tyres as an alternative fuel. Sorted!

I wish they'd legalise slicks for road use now.
Had to stop at 4pm as I'd killed them.
I'll post a write up later.

I was stopped by a bike cop the other day for speeding, tyres were as bald as a bald thing. I gave him the "It's dry, slicks are far better for stopping in dry weather", he laughed and let me off...
    Bike cops>car cops.

I think it's horses for courses.
Why would you put sh itty budget tyres on an car thats being driven harder than the factory intended, or over the limit of a tyre you bought knowing it's a budget.
Budgets are great.......for the old man, on his polo doing a max of 60mph, not for a 200bhp valver being driven hard lol
