Those are some lovely big stoppers! Shame you couldn’t get the big intercooler to work. I’ll be squeezing something that size into mine when I get to it but as I don’t need the crossmember in factory form, I’ll be making something up. Making good progress!
Thanks, intercooler is spare in the garage, if it will gee you up as its shiny bits for your car you can have it for postage my friend.
Got the heater out earlier this evening, rebuild time for that, and fixed the broken bumper side slide bit by transferring one from the old bumper from the green golf, ready to bolt back on now, when find the bolts. Ordered a new front grille, 2 light not 4 due to intercooler being greedy for space, plus had the nod that my loom is ready and getting posted tomorrow, so the car can be reassembled properly when those bits arrive, well may need a few little bits and an intercooler hose but its getting closer to turning the key.
How are you going to do the heater? What intercooler hose? I’ve got loads of BAM stuff in the boot of my car
Thanks Sam, Took heater out, missed two screws, but seems like I've been trying for ages, time and my arm hurting after having my jab last week got in way. Dash is still in, probably should have just removed it as speedo and fusebox are out already. The hose is a 90° 63mm silicone elbow, then can cut it for length to slot between rad and battery, ASH are quite local to me so may pop over there and pick one up, I've got a box of tt and golf 1.8t, tdi and some mini hoses in the shed but only one that was useful was a tt one that fits perfectly from hard boost pipe to intercooler, kinks nicely too.
Got the wheel arch and liner on the new wing and the front lip spoiler bolted up, gti one from the green one we replaced. Found the mk3 4 stud wishbones and anti roll bar so started fitting them, The G60 brakes are going back on, for now anyway, and the Borbet As can stay. Front bumper bolted on too, until I find a better replacement. But good for the moment. Exhaust centre section in place and was able to chop the downpipe and wrap it, insulated the steering knuckle and gear cables too. More parts ordered, so waiting for them for certain areas, but nearly got everything needed, hopefully. Going to help strip a mk3 gti tomorrow so should have more useful parts fingers crossed.
Yeah, actually had a pair for Christmas, but they have disintegrated in the heel already and were a supposedly good make, those are dewalt boots I bought about 4 years back and comfy as anything, just cant believe how much the price has gone up!
What a pain in the area! I’ve recently got some Dr Marten steel toe caps, they’re so comfortable and not cumbersome which is nice considering the size. 100% would recommend.
There are dewalt light, guy in work has them, reckon they are about half the weight of the Scruffs I had, shame I couldn't get them in clown size to fit me. Never had DMs, may look at them. I wear my boots 11 hours for work, plus 6 saturday, then longer if work on stuff in evenings, and any other time I'm outside with car/diy/garden so basically all but sleep in them.
I do 10 hour days, then a 3 hour commute in mine. Nice and light, and I’ve never thought ‘I can’t wait to get these off’
This boot chat needs it's own thread Magnum Sitemasters for me, super comfy and with all the necessary protection. Only available in black though so don't look that great with jeans
Anyway, with all this boot talk looks like I should have got a jetta. Stripped down a mk3 gti yesterday, got some useful parts, including an early mk3 non airbag steering wheel, so after a clean that will go on my mk2, Not so much on the car as thought, some stuff was too far gone to save, but have loom, tank and rear hose brackets for brake
