Have decided to ditch the existing OEM EGT sensor and adapter box, and have bought another k-type thermocouple probe, and LED digital panel thermometer to read it.

The existing EGT probe fits into an M12x1.0 socket, and uses a fixed shoulder on the probe to seal it.
The new EGT probe has a two-part stainless steel gland, with an olive between to grip the probe which hence can be adjusted for depth.
Trouble is, the new probe is 1/8 NPT and hence not a direct fit to the existing manifold hole.
1/8 NPT to M12x1.0 adapter can be bought from Demon Tweeks but they are only brass :(

    New probe on right.

I've ripped the original probe adapter box apart and removed the guts (pcb) - and the existing probe will work the new meter as it's also a K-type thermocouple........so I guess I could just reuse that.

The LED meter and probe were only something like 18 quid delivered from HK!

Have popped in one of the upgraded coil packs (2.0 FSi) and as you can see it sits a bit higher than the others but this is easily overcome.

Have a bag of relay bases arrived so i'm now planning what to do with them.

One job not related to the engine is to build a headlamp upgrade kit.
I'm going to use three relays total for this.
One for main beam including driving lamps. This will draw about 18.3A
The other two are to feed the dip beams individually just to ensure if one fails, I will have at least one dip beam to get me home. These will draw about 4.6A each.
Each will be fused and will take it's signal off of just one of the original headlamp connectors.
The main power will come from an auxiliary fusebox (Mk4 golf style) which I am locating on the inner wing.

The other relays planned are for:-
    ECU power (ignition switched)
    Transducers and senders (ignition switched)
    Fuel Pump (ECU switched)
Fan & aux water pump control (ECU & thermostat + manual override switched)

Have also spunked some dough on a toy I fancied (why not eh?).......shoulda just bought some tyres but I'm easily distracted.......

rather than mess about with external relays, run the ecu power wire to G1/10 and fit a mk3 gti 30 relay to socket 3. for fuel pump run ecu earth trigger wire to G1/3 then fit a 67, 80 or 167 relay to socket 12. Boom, factory

Finally found a good spot for the new power post unit (ex-Touareg).
The fat audi battery lead is bolted to the incoming terminal.
From here you can see the starter motor cable, and i'm also going to wire this into an ex-Polo battery fusebox to establish the alternator feed point.
Outgoing fused ways will serve existing fusebox feed, headlight relays, fan relay and some new sensors feeds that need powering up.

Looking great as usual Foxy,1st thing to do is check the spacing of the bolts on the Flowflex gearbox mount though,my mk3 engine mount was so far out it was un-useable.also turn the washers upsidedown for the yellow ARB droplink bushes,(another mistake I made fitting them)

Where did you get the drop links from if you dont mind me asking? They look like they've got a proper sized nut on the bottom of them.

    Great work by the way!
