This is a good diagram to see what can be removed:

Though I simplified mine even further by getting rid of SAI as well,

And Im running this setup for the PCV with a catch can (Image taken from peterg60 on here - hope that's ok?):

Only I've fed the pipe marked "let it hang under the car" back into the TIP as I dont want the air con to suck the fumes into the car when in traffic etc. (intend to use the car as a daily so was a comfort choice)

Cheers Gloves - as it happens I was looking at that diagram only this afternoon lol. :)
Do I really need all the other garbage if i'm running stand alone management?

Well with SAI removed and the PCV system set up as above all you're really left with to connect up is the N75 valve if I remember correctly.

    Looking stealth...........

First test fit of the reclaimed power rack pump off the 16v I broke. Fits like a glove.....thanks VW!

I need to find a suitable pulley amongs my boxes of bits.

Rack degreased (and it was very greasy) - pipes now coming off ready for paint, new gators and rod ends.

I've just bought an Ibiza Cupra 1.8T geabox.

It'll have VR6 ratios in a 4-pot housing so should work out well :)

What ribbed belt works for the power steering pump?
    (delete aircon)
    I read somewhere that a F*rd F*cus belt works?

Also - what MAP sensors are you guys using for aftermarkey management?
There's a GM/Saab MAP sensor that looks ok and commonplace?

    These look good: EGAY LINKY

Was going to replace cam belt today, and water pump.
I rotated the crank by hand a few times to realign the paint marks I applied to the belt and crank/cam pullies.
As I slackened off the belt I noticed the cam sprocket was loose!!

This is what I found :(

Ths is a brand new sprocket I bought from dealer to replace the existing one which had a cracked spoke.

I wonder if I hadn't tightened it....... crapsticks.

A similar thing happened to a 20vt a mate was building a long while ago - brand new cam sprocket bought from Audi sheered the keyway off bending most of the valves at idle. The sprocket had been on the engine for about 20 minutes and had 0 mileage.

Again, could have been fitted incorrectly but we chanced our arm at an audacious bid of fixing the engine under warrenty. Audacious cos the engine was in a Mk1 golf and so stood no chance of it being repaired but a snippet of information did come back that they had had a few of the sprockets fail [xx(]

New sprocket on and tight :)
New tensioner kit, new pulleys, new water pump, new belt.....all timed up with TDC marks.

Given it 40 spins and it felt ok to me.

MAP sensor arrived from Finland - VPV Racing.
Very well made - billet alloy casing, resin potted sensor.
Kit includes detailed instructions and a matching wiring connector to the one on the sensor flylead, along with loose crimp teminals.

Cost me 34 shipped. VPV have several other items on their website however it's currently non-english.
Recommended for prompt friendly service from the owner himself.

Bit late on the reply for this one but in case you havent bought one already, you can get a genuine VAG one, specifically made for 1.8T's without aircon. If you still need it drop me a note and I'll look out the part number.
