but the ign timing would cause a intermitant problem....it would either be right or wrong

so you actualy took the toothed puley of the crank and checked that the keyway was mint??

i dont know really, its not really intermittent(the now sorted flat spots were) its everytime its started from cold, although today its done it after being parked for just a short time.

it clears itself everytime,so i was thinking maybe the ecu is correcting something? does that sound possible?

didnt manage to get hold of a timing light today [8(]

and yep,had the crank pulley off,the keyway on it is like new and the crank slot is mint also.

i know that the stretch bolt can work loose/wear and cause movement on the pulley/crank causing it to balls up.

    cheers,neil. :)

when you've set the timing, have you looked to see where your mark on the flywheel is? I'd go by this to set it up!

Probably not related, but I might as well offer it up anyway just in case...

I wasn't getting backfiring, but I was getting pooty running on full throttle - flat spots all over the shop, it ran like a dog.

Fault turned out to be the vacuum hose from the rear of the manifold that runs along the back of the engine bay, through to the ECU (the top of two vacuum hoses behind the throttle levers).

    Might be worth checking.

had a go at setting the ign timing.

got car to temp, disconnected blue temp sensor, clicked the throttle microswitch 3 times,

held the revs at 2.2k which the neighbours love(what a f**kin stupid way to do it?) and turned dizzy till i had 6deg.plugged bts back in.

as soon as i set off,it farted when i pressed the throttle.

its just a f**kin piece of poo,and i cant afford for anyone to look at it.

your gona have to go over it all again i think

its either gota be youve installed another dud part or youve been making a big booboo and fitted/done something wrong

ive done it before...stupid little problem then because of inexperiance i pull the whole engine apart and make things much worse
