but the ign timing would cause a intermitant problem....it would either be right or wrong so you actualy took the toothed puley of the crank and checked that the keyway was mint??
i dont know really, its not really intermittent(the now sorted flat spots were) its everytime its started from cold, although today its done it after being parked for just a short time. it clears itself everytime,so i was thinking maybe the ecu is correcting something? does that sound possible? didnt manage to get hold of a timing light today and yep,had the crank pulley off,the keyway on it is like new and the crank slot is mint also. i know that the stretch bolt can work loose/wear and cause movement on the pulley/crank causing it to balls up. cheers, neil. when you've set the timing, have you looked to see where your mark on the flywheel is? I'd go by this to set it up!
Probably not related, but I might as well offer it up anyway just in case... I wasn't getting backfiring, but I was getting pooty running on full throttle - flat spots all over the shop, it ran like a dog. Fault turned out to be the vacuum hose from the rear of the manifold that runs along the back of the engine bay, through to the ECU (the top of two vacuum hoses behind the throttle levers). Might be worth checking.
this needs to be near pap on 1M in length! part No. N02035327. which reminds me, I've to pick some up today from VAG
all vac pipes are brand new and correct length too dont suppose theres anyone near me that can lend me a timing light? cheers, neil.
good question m8 why the hell did i take the mk1 off the road and buy this feckin thing! [:^(] Edited by: riley
had a go at setting the ign timing. got car to temp, disconnected blue temp sensor, clicked the throttle microswitch 3 times, held the revs at 2.2k which the neighbours love(what a f**kin stupid way to do it?) and turned dizzy till i had 6deg.plugged bts back in. as soon as i set off,it farted when i pressed the throttle. its just a f**kin piece of poo,and i cant afford for anyone to look at it.
your gona have to go over it all again i think its either gota be youve installed another dud part or youve been making a big booboo and fitted/done something wrong ive done it before...stupid little problem then because of inexperiance i pull the whole engine apart and make things much worse
[:^(] i know what ya saying pb,just absolutely sick of messing with it. im out of idea's and i dont know what to do next, ive no money through owning the fecking thing, its just a knightmare
how many times have you checked the cam belt is on right? are you sure you didnt put the cam pulley on wrong(if they will go on) cus mines got timing marks everywhere im still not sure i like your diy fixed injector either your time is free ..have another bash
checked the cambelt a million times, and the cam pulley only went on one way because of the key,125% sure all thats right. aye,diy injector isnt too cool really but the problem was there well before that
one thing i havent seen you mention...inj harness, on mine it had got really brittle and the coneections were pooe..i had to make a new one just a thought
yeah, not the best place for em really is it ive had it all out a couple of times, cant physically see any breaks, and its still pretty soft. in fact i think ive got a spare loom off a non g60... was just thinking, maybe i could swap it,but its a right bast[/][/i]ard to get in/out with the plastic case and wotnot.
