Is 16v MkIII Golf GTi really any better than 8v?

    I bought a mk3 16v with more mile than that 6 months ago (TBH i still havn't been bothered to take it home lol)
    My thoughts are they are a much better buy than the 8v but still nothing special till you go serious with them ,THEN they are GREAT!
    To me they just break for parts for more money [:$]
    Shame really as it was said when they 1st came out but the engine is better suited to a mk2 golf chassis due to its weight and better handling etc.etc.etc.
    But again its very nice to see a GOOD one :)

    how many miles in it? mine still wins with less miles as its still getting daily abuse [:D]

    Something hard on the osf lol!;) probably another car,its cat C and very light damage but i'm gong to break it anyway cos its a 5 door.

    8v has better access to engine components, more space to work etc...:lol:

    Anything between 1992 and 2005 is pretty crap if you ask me.

    so weve so sorted this out twice now.

    mk2 8v to ripple the tarmac, mk3 vr6 to steamroller it all level again.

    or a mke 16v 3dr if you are the law

    sorta makes my car flawed :S

    are all golfs 5hit then?

    one ripples tarmac, one caves it in, the other cannot drive in town :(

    shoulda got a vauxhall
