...... that makes you buy something so..... eclectic and representing such an acute period of time and styles. But hey, Ive always hankered after one of these for many many years and, I chased this particular one for about a year, but it was just out of reach. A deal was made and now its mine. A bit more than Id hoped as the pics I was given don't match the current condition anymore, but its all straight and honest and need a light restoration. My Jetta 16v will kindly be donating a few parts to repair the GT and there are a multitude of very small light rust patches all over the place

The original steering wheel is there as well as the original fogs too. I beleive its a zender III? kit including zender grill. The car previously belonged to a chap called Mick who has known this car for years and it has previously featured in the now defunkt Revs magazine (id love a copy but they stopped publishing in '05). The car used to belong to the directors wife of Milton Keynes and has probably had the grill on right from the start. I have all the spares I need to restore it to standard as in the flyer below

You really need to space the plates to put the GT at the end

Comparing it to a F&F car! I can see where you are going with that idea, but be fair ; )

There aint "no end" of these about. Mine was advertised for sale several times, and ive seen a couple more get readvertised too or resold on. I think Ive come across 8 individual ones in the last 10 years. Theres bound to be some more out these yet.

    Now theres an idea Phatty!

Do you know how many of these were produced?

I bought an 80's haynes improve and modify golf and jetta manual off ebay and it says in there volkswagen made 50, dont know how accurate that figure is but if it is accurate you have yourself a rare piece of history there

Great to see something like this being saved.

Volkswagen Driver (Feb 2009) confirms there were just 50 of these

yes guys, there were 50 produced. If you want to see a freshly restored one, then it will be at GTI Festival this weekend as the chap who runs the Jetta Owners club has one as well. I am so looking forward to rolling around in this car!

Mk1- That would be flipping ace of you!!

Ive got the 08 article, but VWD also did an article in March 95 which Id love to find too.

I'll never understand why people have to make comments like this about other peoples cars........[:s] You should learn to keep your thoughts to yourself [:x]

Having said this, the one I saw at inters with a normal front on it was actually pretty cool! Maybe it's just those gash front ends I don't like :p
