Don't think it should be much more hassle than my Ibiza once I sort out the practicalities if running it. Only real difference is engine pre-heater, which needs electric, so ok at bigger circuits with garages, but will need a small genny for smaller venues.
A bit of all sorts probably - few trackdays and a few sprints. My missus wants a go also, which is great to hear. Got three sets of wheels with it so wets/softs/hards. Gonna refit the airjacks also as they have been removed for weight saving but its not worth the hassle of low-rise jacks and risking cracking the bodywork as far as i'm concerned, it going to be a fair while till I can get near its limits so a few extra kg isnt going to hurt one bit. It has a 77L ATL endurance bag tank in it with quick-fill so enough tank capacity for trackdays.
Yes they are The whole aero thing has properly intrigued me so this was one of big drivers to getting an aero car and finding out what its all about.....the mystical invisible force from air You know what I mean.
The engine is pretty maxed anyway and is calibrated to run very close to the det limit by the controller. The official developer of the PCM and for this program I have got to know pretty well. The 40hr rebuild warranty may be the reason LC is not offered, as I am most sure this routine has been written already.
I'm not interested in getting in there anyhow - its quick enough and wouldnt want to need an engine due to trying to tease another 20hp from it. Great atmo engine.....11K redline and it has a vtec-type top end where it pulls what you think is really well till about 7K, and then it goes again.....******** awesome. Hyperdrive button. Its not like a big turbo car that comes on boost all of a sudden, but more like super-vtec. Actually very controllable and with plenty of guts, which is quite unlike a lot of the tuned-busa lumps in many hillclimbers. I have taken a hit on a super lightweight package to get something that is a bit more driveable with the hope that i can get more from it as my first aero car. Also...its a solid thing. Some of the very lightweight hillclimb specials are a bit fragile for my liking - wouldnt want to crash one hard.
I'll get you some of the engine logs and you can give me your opinion on the optimisation......100hz recording so there is a LOT of data
I'm sure that will happen. I'm going to fit a second seat so folks can have a passenger run. It's not often I feel small but I'm at least 30kg lighter and 3" shorter than previous owner....ned a new seat insert making.
This is the beauty: Ibiza is now officially for sale for 12,995.00, which is a bargain considering the specification and pedigree. Specifications are at the start of this thread. Proven Championship winning race package well developed over last 10 years into a very quick hatchback. If you want to win MSA sprint races in Modified Series Production 1400-2000cc, this will get you there.
