Still collecting bits before I get stuck in.
Still waiting for my inlet manifold to be welded [emoji58]

I have the gearbox a bit of a clean [IMG]

Also got a corrado pedal box to do a hydraulic clutch conversion.

And I received these today [IMG]

Need to get my garage cleared right out this week so I can get the car in there in the Christmas holidays and get the engine out.

    Cheers
    Alex

I finally got my inlet manifold back, they left me to die grind the inside to keep the cost down.

Looks ok thought, each weld is nice and thick so all it needs is a good clean up.

Managed to win a lightened G60 flywheel for 50 on eBay the other day. Apparently it weighs 16kg.
    [IMG][IMG]

Ordered a few other goodies but they haven't arrived yet.

The one thing I am struggling to get hold of is a set of Conrods out of the 2.0 8V 2E engine.

    Cheers
    Alex

    All coming together nicely.

You may find some of the Conrods I had originally recommend in my build thread, come in ABF engines as well.

    Thanks Eddie.
Yes I have been told that I may have the stronger conrods already in my engine.

After a lot of hard dusty work and 4 trips with the trailer I have finally cleaned the garage out and set up a huge work bench.

Did not know that AW11 was hiding next door. Have not seen one of those in a while. Long time ago, used to work on a JDM version with the 4AGZE!

Yea it's been in there for 20 years now. All it needs is a new fuel pump and it might start.

    Spax coilovers
Uprated engine from 120 to 170bhp
    Straight cut close ratio gearbox
    Roll cage
    LSD
    Bucket seat
    Chunky Ms slick tyres
    Light weight aluminium wheels
1 class over all btrda auto cross championship 1989
    12000 spent on it

It's for sale as well if anyone is interested or knows of anyone that would be interested.

So garage done, I can now get to work :)

Came home from work and spent and hour die grinding the inside of two ports on the inlet manifold.

I need to get a small sander wheel to finish it off.

    Received my shifter from D4LFR
    [IMG]

Should only be a half day at work tomorrow with any luck, so I can get back on the manifold.

Received my valve seals today, for some reason they only sent me 14 seals and two of these white things. So need to ring them after Christmas.

Also my 440cc injectors turned up today :)

Picked a new air compressor up yesterday because mine is awful. Retail price is 249.99, I got it for 125.

Finished up the inlet manifold today as well. Photos make it look worse than what it looks like in the flesh. [IMG]

Tax runs out on the 31st so going to drive it a couple times before it runs out. Then I'll sorn it and I'll take the engine out then.

Well I had one last run in the car yesterday morning before I put it back into the garage and begun the strip down. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Drive shaft off
    [IMG]

    Engine out
    [IMG]

    Gearbox off
    [IMG]

Had a big tidy up and then started on the engine. Cam cover off and cams out. [IMG][IMG]

    Head off[IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]

Flipped her over took the sump off and whipped the conrods & Pistons out. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Me and my mate had enough by 8 so we called it. But good progress I think for one day considering we spent two hours driving around in the truck picking up engine hoist, engine stand, grease, valve sucker tool. I was also in desperate need for the multi hex tool to undo the drive shaft, non of the shops I went on did them. The only shop that would sell them was shut, luckily a mate I knew had a set :)

The bores look in good condition but the head could do with a good clean up. Need to prep the block for paint, get the bigger rods, send the head to be skimmed and then rebuild it.

    Cheers
    Alex

Two photos of the block at different angles with Pistons in. One pic of the block without Pistons in. Two pics of the bore that look the same but shows all four bores. Cams in the the engine and then in the tray, and the other tray has the big end caps in and the followers. :)
