    Hi rj,

Thanks for all your help over the past few months/year lol.

Got it running last night everything seems to be working as it should just gonna get the the idle sweet.

Just one last thing can I blank off the vacuum outlet on the instrument cluster because I'm not running the mfa at the moment.

    Thanks

? the vac sensor on the clocks shouldnt make any noise regardless of if its fitted or not. if you have a random open vacuum hose behind there then cap it if thats what you meant, or remove the hose engine side and cap the nipple on the engine to save scrabbling around behind the clocks

This is what's making the noise on the back of the clocks and gets louder the higher the revs

it wont be that if theres no vacuum line connected to it, its just a vacuum sensor. if there is a vac line on it and its noisy this suggests its buggered somehow. disconnect the vac line and cap it

    Hi Rj,

Bad news this morning went to run it up and oil light came on with oil all over spark plug 3 and oil dripping from exhaust manifold. I'm guessing that is piston rings? Definitely feel like throwing petrol over it now.

hmm, out the back of the head you mean? maybe rocker gasket. or engine is pressurised blowing out, hows the breather been plumbed in. when oyu say oil on 3, was it on the top and over the plug lead or from inside the head

Its not the rocker cover oil is in the chamber and with blueish smoke when it was running and dripping oil from number three exit on the exhaust manifold. I'm guessing head gasket or rings. Both have been changed tho

    Hi Rj,

I'm doing the rebuild on Monday I think piston ring was a fault, I've brought some 0.5 over size just incase of worn piston etc. Will I be ok to reuse head bolts? they were new and haven't done any miles or got up to temp more than once lol.

    Thanks

16v bolts are use once, so I'd not risk it. 8v technically are re-usable
