Are you using standard 02J cables with that? Im not sure mine would go that far!

Mine go pretty much that far and have a big bow in them both, shouldn't imagine it'd be a prob looking at it - but worth checking!

Will check once i've finished messing with it, but thanks for the heads up

I was planning on having some cables made up for it anyway with metal ends for better reliability - got the details for the place that made Ade's.

Looks like a good position Dan!

When its in first gear position, i don't need to stretch forwards to get it in gear and with a short shift added should be perfect :)

Slow progress, but progress non-the-less, won't be doing too much this week due to a life-threatening dose of man-flu and a back thats on the verge of giving up, so need to rest.

Just the turbo manifold to make a start on now ;)

    Lol

Yep! Had the day off work to remove, fix and replace the intercooler on the Audi, then gave it a good clean, and then spent the rest of the day on the Jetta.

Sort of finished the shifter tower and also checked the cables and there's loads left!

The last leg has to be removable to get the shifter in and out. Might add a couple of diagonal braces, but its pretty sturdy as it is.

Then made new mounts for the steering column, lowering it to the right height:

Think i'll add a couple of diagonals as its not quite sturdy enough at the mo. Lastle, made a start on the bottom column mount, which needs some metal adding:

Also shaved the new brake pedal pivot down some more and stuck the bushes in, its a little stiff so needs a bit more clearancing/filing. The clutch pedal also needs moving to the left a little more - nothing the vice won't sort!

Did the kid 10 years ago! I'm afraid I've been spending all my spare time n money on the house, and the cars been sat in the garage back at my dads untouched :-( No idea when I'll get started on it again. Need to sort internet so I can sell a load of stuff to finance buying bits for it as its not top priority at the moment money wise. Been staying clear of car forums too. Once I'm a bit more straight in the house I might even move it over here into the garage n do some work on it here, we'll see. Hope ur all well, Dan.
