The Saxo was an accident waiting to happen, fortunately he didn't take anyone else out when he ran out of talent.

Had a few spare moments in the last week or so getting the car prepped for Donington in a few weeks time. I've taken another 6kgs out of the car taking it down to 988kgs by removing the rear bumper iron, lightening the front one and swapping the standard lights for some twin Hellas. Also I've tidied the front end up abit and fitted proper ducts and piping into the lower front bumper to feed the brakes. Pics tomorrow it's too dark now.

This might seem a daft question. But is your wing mounted backwards ? [:s]

I really can`t tell from the photos, but this one makes it look like it is..??

Thanks for clarifying

I thought it was just me, but everytime I looked, I was sure it was on backwards lol

Update time. Today I scored a V5 engine and gearbox along with a MK4 gear shifter and cables and a pair of Mk4 rear callipers.
So when the engine is fitted and remapped I should be around the 170bhp mark.

That's a mk4 shifter that's the same as the mk3. Not the better 02j one. [emoji6]

What's the difference between the one I've got and the O2J? What makes it better?

The 02J/02A/02S have bigger gears and are more robust to higher torque input. Saying that, if a rod change gearbox is rebuilt and the engine is say a similar spec to what you currently run, then really there should be no problem.
However with the AQN VR5 and the potential increase in torque from say 163lbft to near 175lbft after mapping, the 02J you have would be the more durable choice.

Having had a proper look at the engine there's a lot of stuff I can remove off it, the aircon pump will be easy as a shorter belt will work without having to mess about with any idler pulleys

I've now swapped the V5 gearbox for a VR6 one which will make it easier to sort the driveshafts out amongst other things, I've got a lightened VR6 flywheel for it so the dual mass can go in the bin. After that I got stuck into the rear axle.

V5 box would be better ratios for track.

Getting the rear beam off to the powdercoaters tomorrow, then I can rebuild the rear brakes etc. the car will be running MK4 rear discs, polo stub axles and fabia rear hubs. While the axles out I've had a bit of welding to do on the rear sills an around the rear suspension mounts.

The beam is back from the blasters
[IMG][/IMG]

So now I can get on with fitting the Polo rear stub axles lupo spacers and Fabia hubs

All being well the ABS should still work ok, now fitted the MK4 calipers and discs
