It's going for a Roll Cage in a couple of weeks, When I've got it back there's some welding to do at the front and swap the engine

All that nice clean rear beam / brakes and you haven`t cleaned up the caliper carrier ! Give it a wire brush at least... lol

With it being a track car, I`m curious why you fitted new rubber brake flexi`s and not braided ??

What`s your target for getting it on circuit ?

Budget is the reason I didn't go braided, between the 5 of us doing track days together we've got 1000 budget for track mods (cage and tyres not included) I've got another pair of carriers that I'm going to get blasted I'll swap them later I had got a pair of Mk4 carriers but they won't fit the polo stub axles. It needed to be back on the floor this weekend so it's ready for the Roll Cage. First trackdays this year will be March all being well.

You may want to remove the paint from the rear beam where the stub axles bolt too. With the heat you will be generating it may melt the paint thus removing the torque from the bolts letting them work loose.

Pic of my beam when I had it blasted and powder coated I asked them not to paint the hub faces

Packed it off for its Roll Cage today. I'm tempted now not to fit the V5 straight away, I'm interested to see the lap times with the rear axle work and the 888's

Good idea. I always find it helps to do a mod and see what effect it's had to the car... That way you know where any improvement has come from rather than doing loads of stuff and wondering what made it work so well

Plus going for power will take the edge off trying to squeeze the last few 10ths out of the chassis

You've probably already done it or going too, but there is some nasty looking bits of metal sticking out fr where the dash was. You putting the dash back or leaving it out?

Mike, initially I thought the same, but I suspect if he`s going to the lengths of powdercoating the rear beam, he won`t leave it looking as shabby as that without a dash ! :) It looks like it needs trimming around the cage, probably why it isn`t in yet ;)

However, you`ve still left the sound insulation fastened to the bulkhead ! get that stuff removed whilst the dash it out

The dash is going back in, I've left it out for a while so I can get to the wiring easier and to convert the clutch pedal and to remove anything from behind there that doesn't need to be there

Not much progress over the last few weeks, but the wings are off now as the sills need work at the front and the passenger floor needs attention.
