    Hi Everyone,

Towed the polo back up north a few weeks ago, took a couple of pics along the way. Next thing on the list is get some fibreglass front wings and front panel and mould it together with my new WL motorpsort splitter to make a removable front :)

And start saving for the dam engine build!

i tried to get into the room down at mercedes benz world but the presentations had already started.[:x] did you find it easier to present your work in that building rather then in college?

Unfortunately not- although I've got a few more parts for it now, and have more of an idea which direction I want to take it in, work will start again on the blue polo in June/July once I've finished uni :p

In the mean time all my free time has been taken up with my road Polo:

Ran a 13.1 @ 108mph at Santa Pod the other weekend (GTi Festival) not bad for a 1.3!!!

    [:D]

Will update this thread once I do something with the blue thing worth mentioning

    Cheers

Nothing worth mentioning, red one and my new job seem to take up most of my spare time, hoping winter will provide some funds to take it to the next level...

New job is at Bentley Motors, so possibly a V8 Twin Turbo

am i seeing wrong or is your main hoop split into two sections? if so, not sure on the rules over there, but in the US, they won't allow any split sections on tubing, just food for thought

car looks incredible, love that blue color

Your eyes don't decieve you :)

The main hoop was too wide for the car- my only option at the time (due to financial constraints) was to chop a section out and sleeve it with some smaller CDS and then puddle weld it and seam it up.

Arguably not as strong as the original but I might replace some parts of the cage I'm not happy with.

What about where you join the front half to the rear?

My OMP FIA one comes with a piece of tubing that slides over & overlaps the join between the front & rear & has a few bolts going right through it to hold it together, would that be ok in the US?

i believe it is only for the main hoop, has to be all one piece, mandrel bent. where the splices are in yours as show are similar to other bolt in cages here, alot of club racers use them actually
