VR6 does have pretty good power potential just needs forced Induction, and they do sound great! I commute 50 miles a day in mine and am seeing 35mpg! Oh yeah to update mine, black grill badge added and VR6 deep front Excuse the shocking blackberry picture! Just picked up a spare front bumper to have a go at plastic welding!! Just to add to the list of things started and not finished. Finally fitted the lupo gearknob and gaiter ant the chrome interior handles. Still polishing my TT comps though. New Alpine replacement head unit on the way, Uprated the door speakers to some Kenwoods. Also New Momo Jet Steering wheel to put on, after I have bought a boss, but thats going to have to wait until next month, After I have bought road tax
3 Door conversion is going ahead Picked this up with Taks on saturday.... Thanks Nav for the find and Mike for supplying us with the many pictures and car :-) Have started working on the new rims There's a lot of damn spokes Split down my Anniversary BBS's for refurb
heres my mk3 plans for this year are fit hella twin headlight convertion this week when my new black covers turn up. roll the arches and drop it as low as i can with the 17s i have on it and fit a some nice bucket seats in the front oh and a nice new exhaust system but not decided on witch one yet
Forget about those $h!t wheels. Have you done mine yet? Finish them and i'll pay you with 2 BBS solitudes.
Here is mine plans for this year: MJ Interiors retrim using Colour concept recaros (these should be in the car by march) and a BAM engine conversion
not posted anything about mine for a while on here. stupid job totally sapped my car time for past six months but saw the thread and thought better say lo again. The inside is now totally gutted with near enough every bracket removed and a million holes drilled to save weight. elec windows swapped to winders, custom dash and a load of other stuff etc. Plans for this year or maybe the year after since im off traveling: new wheel as these arnt light enough. going for some wide ass oz's. this should also mean i wont have to run spacers to cover my 4 pots swap my comfy buckets for carbon jobbies (to save weight) another respray, maybe to white or quite like the idea of red atm, had a problem with the primer i bought which has fluffed the paint. its currently in dispute! then the following which im collecting parts for already... fitting a full cage (myself), removing boot floor/wheel well and swapping for either reinforced carbon or steel again to allow for... a fuel cell haldex 4wd - i've begun collecting parts for this already, am maybe 45% there. after 4wd i'll sort the engine. i want 400bhp but currently the 230bhp the car has combined with what it weighs is rediculous, i reckon even with a ko4 on it would make it a nightmare. p.s. all pics from my thread as im to slack to post new!
Just to jump of topic for a second... is the golf really the worst mk of them all? i like to keep this in mind when thinking about it
Oh damn were you gonna put them on the car??? I've been using them to keep the doors wedged open Completely forgot to call you earlier when going paint shop, I was expecting Amardeep to bell you. Just got out of meeting will bell you now see how you getting along, need that spacer off you too.
Hi mate, yes he does. I think he posted his number in the classified parts section Here's his post mate. http://clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208738
thanks but the postage from india will probably be too much.... slough is near me, probably have them off him
I think thats the general impression everyone has?? i dont think the chassis is the best... they're heavy, the looks are not shall we say groundbreaking (to be kind) they managed to produce a 2.8 6 pot with a stagering 175bhp?? on the subject, the iconic mk1 was ground breaking with its GTI 1.6 1.8 lumps setting off the hot hatch craze the mk2 gti was good looking like the mk1 and the GTi Kr 16v was again something special The mk3 was an ugly over weight version of the mk2 with a bigger kr (ABF) on mild (cat friendly cams) and frankly a let down to the mk2 the mk4 introduced the awesome 20vt engine to the GTi range with a better chassis than the mk3 The mk5... okay its just a bigger mk4 but it did have a better chassis although the R32 just isnt as good as the mk4 R32 All in all the mk3 is neither clever or ground breaking... it did however pave the way for the R32's to follow with its VR6 model... though the 175bhp 2.8 6 pot is hardly impressive (i can hear hearts breaking) though the sound is to die for and with some modding the car can be vasly improved. Either way one has found its way into my heart shapped garage and i'm eagerly feinding away to produce something with it for GTi inters lol What can i say, i'm a fan of the uglyduckings and under dogs.
