Thats why I was impressed for once i actually saw someone with a performance car showing what it can do (speed wise) in a straight line.

I wasn't racing the chap in the RS4, my car just takes a little longer to get upto motorway speeds so have to utilise the full slip road

Sadly I'm not into the racing bigger/faster cars than me as it only makes me look more rubbish for trying and failing miserably!

Ive had my fair share of people trying to have me due to the fact ive got a GTI badge on my car. 2 today. One chav in a Saxo and one in a Punto. So i burned them, on principal.
It in no way means i have a large penis. But its fun knowing that i just right royally p*ssed off a chav

You are both in even cars, so the dual is plausible.
We'd all expect mk2 v saxo or mk2 v punto.

 

How is a Saxo or Punto classified as an 'even car' to a mk2 gti?

The Golf is a classic hot hatch, whereas the other two are newer modes of basic transport!

 

So you can't imagine that the driver of, say, an RS4 wouldn't want to slap his dick in the face of a GTi driver? I can imagine it easily enough since it happens almost every day. They will drag a lesser car for a short way because they see it as a boy racer's car and want to embarrass him.

It happens, we all know it happens. I'm having trouble seeing why you're arguing it unless you're playing devil's advocate. I don't think *anyone* is claiming that an RS4 driver will race a GTi because he thinks it's a fair contest. Not from what I've seen of the thread, anyway.

 

Funnily enough i was on the motorway inside lane trying my hardest to get some fuel economy out of my golf was doing about 70, when a chav in a 1.1 saxo comes right up behind me being a dick so after several minutes of this he pulls out and along side and slows down again i thought bugger this changed in to 4 and was off. always nice to embarass them when they have there 14 year old girlfriends with them.

 

i did the same to a skoda octavia rs!! heard they was quick but just wanted to see for myself!! i came up the 3rd lane on the m/way and stayed next to him, knowing full well he'd floor it!! he shot off eventually - them things fly!!!

aint knocking a new car like that!! but i do know that old or not - old golfs (mk1/mk2) are investments due to the mark they left in motoring history!!! hence their prices now!! you cant knock that!!!

was at the jap fest run-what-ya-brung day at santapod, and seen an aston martin db9 getting smoked by an orange coloured mk2 escort!! the escort obviously had a tuned engine, but defo didn't sound like a stonking v8 (like regular dragcars), or big turbo jobbie!!!

recorded it smoking away scoobys and skylines (had mega-quick qtr ml times), but was on the drift stand when it done the db9!! but the driftstand was located right at the end of the dragstrip just behind the timer, so unfortunately didn't get the times, but both flew past with escort in front!!! what do make of this??? oh and btw it had no. plates so i'm presuming it was a regular road car

 

Could be running a highly modified pinto, you can get over 300bhp in those things. Saw a red Rs2000 with a 2.4 pinto, fully balanced running triple carbs, do a 10.5 second 1/4 mile at Santo Pod a few years ago. That thing was awesome.

Oh and i had a little fun last night, some chav in a Peugeot 206 with a huge body kit and massive alloys was sat on my back bumper. I heard him drop a gear behind me and he shot out to overtake and i just floored it, didn't even have to change gear!! I think he had a couple of young girls with him, bet they were real impressed with him!

 

I actually posted this with the intention of highlighting the fact that Seraph, who takes great delight in ridiculing everybody else's mistakes, actually makes some himself!

 

I personally know of 2 orange mk2 Escorts running high power cossie lumps. Seems to be weapon of choice along with duratecs nowadays. Both are ~500bhp which sounds like so much fun!

 

quite poss!!! but i didn't hear any dump valve, whistling turbo noises associated with tuned turbo lumps!! however - it was a jap fest so there was loadsa whooshes, pops, bangs and all other kinda noises that may have drowned it out!! have it recorded on my camera racing i think a scooby - would post it, but dont know how!!!
