I've had my Snap-on CT3850 18v 1/2" gun for about 5 yrs, one of the best things I've ever bought, tool wise.

    Expensive tho!

I bought one of these from ebay

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/24v-CORDLESS-...ryZ20777QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And i tell everyone its the best tool i have ever bought! Its great! Saves so much time and woe over snapped rusted bolts. I basicly weighed up price and torque spec. I didnt wanna spend over 200 on a snap on one for home use. I have had the pleasure of using a snap on one and yes they are much better but for the price and home use you cant go wrong at all with one of these. The batteries dont last that long but it isnt a problem as you always have a freshly charged new one to swap. Its also good stong quality with a good case. Mines taken some abuse and is fine so far.

Looks identical to my Rolson one except for the colours, think the torque claims might be a bit high though. My one seems pretty good for the money so far.

    Agreed
    got this,
and in the last 2 weeks it has saved me hours of beating my knuckles and a spanner to try and remove flywheel and crankpulley bolts.

where before i would have been stumped, now i can actually finish the job.

i've not owned an impact wrench before so cant compare it to others but for 25 its a bargin.
time will tell if it lasts, but like i say its cheap.

    with the whole torque thing
would a 125ft/lb wrench eventually undo most bolts
whereas a 200ft/lb one undo straight away?

There are plenty of bolts that just won't budge with a 125 lb/ft wrench. I'd be surprised if it took wheel nuts off reliably.

i would have thought flywheel bolts would be tougher than wheel bolts. i'll try wheel bolts with it soon.

    cordless impact gun

yeah i'v had one of these for about 6yrs its one of the best thngs i own.
its a 19v sealey version and will undo anything i want it to. charge last for months if lightly used or if heavy use is needed it will do the whole job you want it to all day.

cost me 191 no vat. with my discount and was up for sale for 390 +vat so i can't complain atall

    Matt82 and ambrose89:

My 25 impact wrench died. :( I wondered why it kept blowing a fuse in my car then noticed the wires were knackered. By the time I'd repaired them I guess it had already shorted out. :(

And no, Machine Mart don't replace stuffs with dodgy repaired wiring. [:p]

Ah well, I just bought another one. Just be careful of those wires!

Things that my 25 impact wrench from Machine Mart will remove:

    - Tie rod end to hub nut (I'm not lying)
    - Wheel nuts
    - Any suspension strut nuts (top mounts, the nut keeping the spring compressed, etc, without even having to keep the shaft from rotating)
    - Front strut to hub nuts

    Things it won't remove:

    - 22mm deep socket over jamb nut on tie rod end will result in a broken hand

    Definitely worth the money.

    Almost useless

Bought a Rolson 24v off ebay, new. Wont undo wheel bolts done up to 80/90 ft lbs, batteries dont hold charge for more than a couple of days when not in use. Probably the worst bit of kit I've ever bought, Should have known better, you dont get one of these for 60 and expect it to do what the ad. says

I bought my Snap-on one after seeing Gary`s at a trackday. Mine`s 4 years old and you can still just get it out of the box and use it, takes an age to run the battery down.

You get what you pay for and I couldn`t imagine trying to use one without a variable trigger.. Best tool I`ve bought, saved me over an hour the other week doingt the rear engine mount on the GTO, would have been a real ball ache without it.

Snap-On 1/2" 14.4v... Bought new nearly 6 years ago, fantastic bit of kit! When (if) it ever dies I'll replace it with the 18v version.

wondered if anyone could advise on the sealey ones

i have one and it has a flat headed screw in the side, the manual just stated it was a lube point or suchlike, no mention of what lube and when

any ideas what to put in there and how often?
