    It's due to go up by 1p next month and then there's the VAT increase in the new year.

    Think that's bad? Get your backside down to Chelsea then (or rather, don't).
    Standard unleaded at a Total garage on Sloane Avenue, SW3 this week;
    149.9p per litre...

    I dont really get it.
    Fuel businesses put prices up to keep their bank balance looking good.

    Sorry but what is the difference between making 1 profit and 10 profit. It is still profit and they never spend it, it just stills there in a bank doing bugger all. so why not keep fuel prices the same?

    Greed pure greed.
    We need to do something. I notice if other countries arent happy with something, they rally together and get it change, but here we just say "theres nothing we can do". They charge us sooooo much because they know that we are saying that we cannot do anything.

    Erm, no. They don't just leave it sitting there. They invest profit back into their business, or into other businesses. They take enormous risks with it, of a size I probably can't comprehend.
    It really wouldn't surprise me to learn that Oil companies sail as close to the wind as investment banks.

    Heres a risk for them....

    Pay off third world debt....then i would be happy with the price increase.

    Paid 135.9 yesterday for diesel next to the DVLA in Worcester, only put 10 in when I saw the price though.

    The way I see it, the oil companies 'make the product' so are entitled to make whatever profit they can get away with, as with any other business. You wouldn't run your own business and charge less for your product than you could.
    As mentioned its obviously the tax thats the problem and half or more of the total price, and the only solution is alternative fuel, or try to use less.
