I'll just submit my motoring history as evidence that I think you should always build cars for yourself not the scene. I've had the most fun over the past 10 years building stuff that people don't understand When people do appreciate something and get into an idea its flattering, but too many people mod their cars with the twisted idea that its going to win them respect / women.
i think its all being taken the wrong way-surely the point of the thread is to list things you personally don't like without targeting anyone in particular. If people with those particular mods listed take it personally then tough poo, i would also suggest if you are that bothered about what others think then you are probably modding your car for the wrong reasons.
As my dear old Nan used to say,sod em! I don't like stickers on cars that say what tuning parts you have, I don't like wheels that are too big for the car or general neony stuff. But my Escort will be lime green and a straight line machine. My golf will have a hideously wide bodykit to fit 9" wheels under. The Merc will have pimp tints and all black bodywork. I want a V-Max. My opinions wont change that much I think on what I like or don't like but I can hardly call myself the best person to judge other peoples tastes . Dave!
You car isnt wa[/i]nk mate. Smart motor. I cant believe people are going on the fu[/i]cking idiots in this thread. Its one thing sl*ggin of other people cars (which btw i dont agree with) but its another when your are sl*gging off cars on a site/forum dedicated to that actual car. I think some people need to sit back and have a hard look at themsleves because you make yourselfs look foolish. Im glad that the most people i meet when out and about at shows etc, arent made up of pri[/i]cks who have such a negative outlook on other people cars Edited by: Jsem
well what a surprise, instead of voiceing your own opinions, you just sl*g off mine....what a pack of w4nkers.... I haven't picked on anyones car in particular, so I don't see why so many of you are getting upset. Nor did I claim any of my own cars to be perfect or to everyones tastes. but hey, at least I've actually bothered to build a few.... unlike most people on here. just a take a step back and look at how sad some of these pathertic trends are getting. no, really, just stop and take a good long look at it all. People outside the scene are laughing at you all for doing this CRAP to your cars, why? because its sad and it looks silly. Just as most people think chavved up cars are complete toss and chavs love them ,the same thing is true of these ridiculously styled vw's. Admit it,they look stupid, and you're all sad for following the stupid trends to try and keep up with "the scene". you're also a fag if you daren't say openly that you dislike something.
agreed 100% with all of that more posts like this please, the rest of you whiningon, just stop reading....simple as that.
I have to say I'm a big fan of OEM+ but I often get told my car doesn't stand out enough, yet, I don't really want it to. Subtly is the key in my opinion
there's more G60 steels------------rubbish. they don't look "cool", they look like sttel wheels, and they're not 'rare' either, and they are bloody heavy too. good as spares of winter wheels, or if it's a sleeper (I love stock looking cars with trick motors) two tone paint-------works if done right, on the right car. never seen it sucessfully pulled off on a watercooled vw yet. wire wheels------------shocking. "themed" cars------why? it's a car, not a bloody house. beige/brown---------------just "NO"
Couldn't agree more -as you say, its not like one car has been singled out. jsem, where would you rather people discussed the scene and their preferances? The way i see it is what better place to 'discuss' these things than on a dedicated site? Would you rather talk about it on the saxo forums?
I say who gives a to55 what others think, build your car for yourself and not others. Although, it does make me laugh how many people are building road legal race cars and still haven't even driven round a track yet so they have absolutely no idea what the car needs to be like Edited by: GVK
would they be the same people who tell other people what to do to their cars without even attempting it themselves? and also passing on "advice" when they have had no practical experience whatsoever?
They could be, but as said earlier in this thread we're not singling out anyone imparticular(sp) Edited by: GVK
I'm just copying you - if it drives crap when it's finished then it's your fault By the way I hate Scooby intakes on VWs.....
