my first ever post! woo hoo! erm yes just got myself a pioneer DEH-8600MP, all i can say is, WOW! now its been years since ive had a decent headunit, last was a medion pile o'pooe im my wonderful Fiat Tipo But i am trully amazed at this thing! The sound is better than anything ive heard in a car before, and thats with the standard Golf mk2 dash speakers, im hearing stuff on songs id never heard before! It really is amazing the headunits you can pickup online now for such crazy prices, id never pay 600 for a headunit, but for just over half that price, im a very happy bunny Now all i need to do is save my pennies for some audioscape door pods, decent components and an amp, and ill be the happiest boy in christenden sorry for rambling, ill go back to my beer now
Got a JVC 'chameleon' at the moment.Sounds ok, I could do with putting in the speakers I've picked up cos the standard ones dont do it justice. It's only a stop gap as the face doesn't actually come off, the volume knob retracts and the lower section folds in...can't wait to get shot of it, don't want some robbing smackhead chucking a brick through the window and nicking it. Ideally I'd replace it with a Pioneer 9700R but they're rarer than rocking horse poo. Most likely the 7500R.
I'm running a Nak 35z and have no probs with it including CD-r's. Wish I'd bought the 45z now as it has the 3 preouts (mine only has one) but think I'll go for the new unit next time. Mine is powering the rear 6*9's off the onboard amp and a Rockford 240x4 on the preouts with P Gold comps in Audioscape pods and a 12" JL W4 in the boot.
just bought myself one of these: previous HU was stolen from the car haven't had any music for AGES [:^(]
ive got a kenwood that came with the car. produces excellent sound and the only bad thing is when you press the volume up button the LCD goes weird. is all good though. plays cd-r, cd-rw, mp3 cd, everything you could want. not bad for one thrown in with the car. william
DEH-77mp sounds awesome, fully featured and looks retro wicked. all said though, might try one of the Becker units as the look uber cool. Boston Acoustics components......v swish
Alpine CDA-9812RB here as well, great headunit with built in cross-overs and phase adjustment etc. The media expander isn't anything to do with playing scratched cds tho Think of it as a 'bass boost' button only one that makes the sound actually descent and not just a muffly crap.
I've had Kenwood since the late 80's and have always been pleased! Just bought one of these for 120: That's at least 65 cheaper that I've seen it anywhere else! Edited by: Aquablue
i've got a sony mask TAPE player & cd & md changer & got lead to play anything that has a headphone output in glvoe box.. now i've was always keen to keep it as i can play any music format. I've listened to the Sony is crap arguement & always thought yeah yeah - BUT its true. plugged a pals pioneer into my car t'other day & it sounded SO much better. admittedly mines 5yr old & has been ragged to death & his is new top of range pioneer, but it made mine sound like i had longwave radio on compared to his hu [:^(]
