pioneer deh 77mp legend of a head unit sound quality is top notch looks blend in anywhere had sony thought they were rubbish that was a cdxm800 or something it was about 300 quid alpine are nice can't stand the operation of panasonic or jvc tbh
Aiwa , cheap and cheerful ,plonked in my AX at the moment with a Sony axsw 200 powered sub , factory fitted 2 way 5 1/4s ,2 pairs of cheapo boschmann tweeters....... sounds great for what it is !! all for well under 300 quid . Edited by: eddiegaskit
i've got a pioneer AVH-6500 but i'm getting rid of it and getting an alpine CDA-9855R problem i've found is that the roll out screens are really unreliable mine 2 years old and is ready for the bin. I'd discourage anyone from going down the roll out route.
i have a JVC KD-G501 with the 12 disc CD changer (not the MP3 12disc changer), its decent quality for the price. i didnt want sony either, they r too common Edited by: dreleask
Pioneer DEH-P77MP. Having a decent system meant that I was very attracted to this when I was putting my new system together, due to its lovely sounding DACs and good price for the features you get. It doesn't have time alignment but then unless you fade to the left to make the sound level balanced for the driver's seat then you shouldn't notice the slight lack of absolute positioning of the voices in music, provided your speakers are aimed reasonably well. I haven't heard any of the models from the last two years, but the CDX-CA900 (I think?) that I heard a while ago sounded awful, even though it had a 7 band EQ, the sound just wasn't nice. It wasn't as bad as the sony tape headunit I had about 4 years ago though (with a 10 disk CD changer). Very nasty treble on that. The pioneer is extremely smooth and nicely detailed, a complete reverse of the sony's I've owned / heard.
