1970`s RWD insanity I think the whole point on this thread (an f*ck me its a long one ...) is that people into a scene like VW`s will always have different opinions. Its unavoidable when there are so many people around all talking on the same subject. The newer cars have all the gadgets and the older cars are less refined but its personal taste. I love my Mk2`s and Mk1`s and would take one over an R32 any day. Some of you may think me potty but thats just me isnt it ? People should stop getting so defensive and anal about their choice of car just because someone voices an opinion against it. Its not a personal attack for f*cks sake ... If you like your car that much and are that happy with it why do you feel the need to get so defensive over a negative comment on it ? Surely it shouldnt matter ? Also when it comes to track days you can have fun in anything, trust me

Oh ok lol didnt know that This is the thing, Ive met you Craig (as you probably know!) and others at one or to meets, and I never got a feeling of any anomisity about who drives what what - I would like to think its the same way at a track day and one do hopefully Ill do one. On a slight tangent, I can guarantee someone like Craig (if only for a complete lack of any fear about crashing whatsoever LOL) would get far better times out of my car than I can. Which probably shows me up as the MK4 owner who doesn't have a clue what hes doing, throwing money away on a new car when he could have an old one and go quicker. No, I wouldn't know what to do with a Haldex set up in bits on my living room floor and I have never changed the bushes on my car. But I still consider myself an enthusiast with a fairly detailed knowledge of my car (if not at the atomic level), and would like to think other people can appreciate it for what it is to. This point has been brought up in another thread I'm a mechanic who's worked on cars since leaving school,Just because I do all the work on the car(except paintwork and rolling road tuning) I don't class myself more the enthusiast than someone like yourself Mike, not at all.
