I've just got the Desire but I'll keep an eye on that new iPhone. I'd like to compare them personally.

I love the iphone. I have a work phone and still decided to get one for myself.

How is it better than the current 3G and 3GS? The jargon doesn't mean much to me, just hope the battery life has improved

Four versions now? What TF? This is the iPod all over again.

I've never bought one, but this stinks of overly cynical product creation. I'm sure version 4,561 will be bob on, but I'll wait a bit longer thanks.

Apple products have a hardware and software refresh every year. Its the same as buying a PC only for a better graphics card to come out in 2 weeks time. At least there is a schedule to Apples hardware and software upgrades. With PCs its up to all the other manufacturers, and you end up chasing after the hardware and software.

If you bought an Android phone, about 1 week later another android phone would be released with another new feature. If you are happy to stick with the iPhone, there will only be an upgrade annually. Depending on how you pay for you contract, you either skip out a generation (as i did, i didnt upgrade to 3GS, i waited for the iPhone 4) or you take the hit and upgrade early.

Its a better system in my opinion. But i do love it when ill/mis informed folks jump on the Apple bashing bandwagon. Makes me laugh.

Thinner. New outer design. Available for the first time in white on the front and back.
High res display, highest most clear of any phone on market.
    HD video recording
5mp camera with a great sensor and LED flash
New glass design front and rear
New antenna design built into the stainless outer casing
Front facing camera for video calling
Smaller and faster processor. The same one from the Apple iPad.
Larger battery with miniaturised components for maximum battery space. Promises upto 40% more charge time.

Loads more features, including over 100 new features built into iOS 4. Including great multitasking and tonnes of more features for that too.

Oh and it looks nothing like the old iPhone, totally different casing. Ok, it still has a home button and the same size screen.

It's a computer that fits in your pocket. It's also a phone. Obviously, if you only want to make calls and send texts, there are lots of cheaper options on the market.

Just about every Apple branded product gets updated every year. That's nothing new - every car manufacturer makes changes for each model year. It would be foolish to spend billions on R&D and not bring new features to market.

The new one is thinner, faster, has more battery life, has a better camera, shoots and edits HD video, and just changed the game in video calling/video conferencing.
