I get 300 mins, 500 texts and unlimited data (when we send an mms, it uses 4x sms credits). However, o2 have changed their plans. When we renew/upgrade, we will have to move onto the new plan. It is better in one respect, but not in another. We will get 300 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data. But they no longer allow mms credits out of your sms allowance. So you have to pay for mms. But, everyone has an email address these days, and with unlimited data, ill just email pics instead.

We have the 35 tariff on friends and family, so thats 35 - 30% = 24.50 p/m. :) We dont pay extra for phone insurance, as we have cover for 2x mobile phones through our bank account.

If you know anyone that works at O2 or Carphone Warehouse, id recommend trying to get on the friends and family plan. Saves a fortune over the contract period. But you cant get the savings on PAYG.

See at the 24.50 thats not that bad I think......depending on what kind of use you would give it... I want minutes and SMS and if I get both of them then I'm sold.

I'm paying 25 now for 600mins which I can easily go through and unlimited SMS which use varies and Home broadband thrown in and like yourself have Insurance through the bank but as I'm on superdooper throwaways I wouldn't claim anyway. I'd personanally be out of pocket each month.

What do the APPs cost then? Do they vary in price?

I pay 30, I get a free smart phone, HTC G1, and a 200pound limit, its 10p a text or 10p and minute to either landlines or any mobile, so that can be 2000minutes or 2000texts, also get free unlimited internet. That was a special internet deal that no shop could get anywhere near.

Less apps on andriod (HTC phones) but Iv never paid for an app and I have a feeling you would want similar ones to me, the useful ones!

Apps vary from Free to 100 depending on their function. Most are around 59p to 5.99 depending on the publisher. For example, Need for Speed Shift is around 4.

Apple are promoting iAds from 1st July, which promises 60% advertising revenue to the developers. They are trying to encourage devs to create low cost or free apps in return for advertising revenue. Its a great idea, and Apple sells the advertising to save the devs the hassle.

Aye, you can get inferior phones (imo) for free on contract. If thats your thing. Ive used almost every smartphone on the market at some stage, but always think they miss something that the iPhone got right from the word go.

but my inferior phone has some identical parts that are used in your iphone, a full qwerty keyboard and a mouse ball, also did you see my screen when we met? totally shattered but no damage to the display and its still fully operational as touch screen! Genuine interest what did you feel a G1 was lacking? I do seem to get a significant amount more talktime that iphone users. I even have a free music program where I can download any song for free, and when searching for a new song with a iphone user he couldnt get it and I had it in seconds;)

The only problem I found with the G1 was it wasnt a simple procedure to move items from phone storage onto its memory card, all sorted with updates and an app now.

I said in my opinion Nick. :) I dont like Android and if a screen is good enough, there is no need for a qwerty pull out keyboard. Never have i thought an iphone would benefit from one. Also, the song test isnt fair, were you both on the same network? How were you trying to find it? Both through Google, or using a music download application? Was one of you on WiFi?

Agree, iPhones batteries are not great, iPhone 4 should rectify that, but i usually leave mine docked all day at work anyway.

I just wanted to know what you didnt like as you've most likley played with more smart phones than me and Iv got my upgrade due, plus im slagging the iphone off so you should do the same to the G1:lol:

On the music thing I only said it as the iphone is a music phone but as itunes is commercial apart from paying for tunes you have to wait for official releases.

I only mentioned the minutes as Raider said he uses over 600, I use about 1000-1500 most months and id like to think my 30pounds a month is paying for that not paying for my phone. Im sat here on hold to a specialist roof material supplier and I do this alot. My work phone contract is 5pounds a month 200mins - 200texts no phone, with 3, I just have it as my other phone diverts to it so my g1 doesnt need to be in my pocket at work, and it was too much of a good deal to turn down. Its almost the same amount of minutes/texts an iphone users gets with there contracts, makes me think that apart from having to pay for the phone at the start you are paying for it every month for 18months.

There's no doubt that some people will prefer a pull out keyboard, but it makes the phone more complicated, heavier, and moving parts are more likely to fail - remember the Nokia 'matrix phones' with the pull out mouthpieces?

I've got used to the iPhone 'keyboard' over time, but physical keyboards are still a bit quicker in use.

So you're stealing music then. You must be very proud. If I like someone's art, I'd rather pay them for it, so they'll make some more.

Date is officially June 24th Matt. However, Apple have sold 600,000 on pre orders alone, which unprecedented for a pre order.

I have 2x 32gb phones confirmed for collection from my local Apple store, but i was ready to order as soon as they went live at 9am, and then the site died with so many people getting online. It then came back up, and i managed to get in and pre order for store collection on 24th.

The only way you would get one on release day now is visit a retail outlet; either one of your chosen carriers, or get in line at the Apple store for any potential stock that may be left.

If you buy one sim free unlocked, you can put any sim you like in it. It will not get sim locked to any network.

got one at about 3pm this aft.

No queuing, no preordering, just walked into Tesco's and they had 2 16Gb left.

750mins, unlimited texts, 1Gb data a month, unlimited cloud wifi,12 month contract.
    229 up front and 35 a month.

happy with that, i was paying 45 a month a few years ago for a poxy N95 on an 18 month contract!

I swore i was never going to trap myself in a contract again, then i realised i only want out of them when i'm bored with the phone.

as for the phone, wowsers, that screen...it's EPIC, i have never seen a screen like it, it is absolutely unreal, pixel free and crystal clear.

only bad comment is it's a bit "edgy" and not as comfortable to hold as the old 3G. but i pick tha tup and and thing it lookes like a nintendo game boy, the screen looks horrendous!

I was going to wait, or hold off any bu a used 3Gs, but when i saw the tesco price and then they only had one left (the other one sold as i was making my mind up) i just went for it.

Absolutely, picked my 2x 32gb phones up from Apple this morning. Fantastic phones, screen is as Paul said. Completely epic.

The design has taken a massive notch up, it feels so much more grown up. The glass on the front and rear is also something else.

iMovie is a great app too, makes video editing a breeze on the go, the transitions, themes and cool features all add to make it worth 2.99.

Excellent. Congrats. Did Phones4U not have the ability to login to the O2 portal to do the upgrades online? Shame, thats the way Apple handled it. Was swift once the Apple store got around the issue of the O2 site using the bain of Apples life and causing issues........flash!!! They were even using parallels desktop and internet explorer for max compatibility with the portal from O2.
